[quote] The Kroger Co. ( KR - news - people ), which operates the nation's largest traditional grocery chain, launched a website about 18 months ago that allows customers to download coupons to their store discount cards or onto home computers to print. The site added a mobile phone coupon app last year.
"We've seen slightly more complex couponing, which can take longer for us to help our customers exit the store," said Kroger spokesman Keith Dailey.
The so-called extreme couponers make up a small portion of customers and Kroger has not been forced to limit coupon use because of the trend, he said.
"But we're certainly keeping an eye on the industry," Dailey said. [unquote]

My area problems started b4 THAT show.
One store I shop at has a rogue manager making a limit of 3 like coupons. I have been told that his policy is per corporate from him and all of his staff.
According to the dm - nope - no such policy.
- I complained about the store manage last year and spoke with a district manager about his rules. I was told it was the store managers rule and not corp policy.
The dm said he would fix the store.
Happening again this year. Same manager is doing it again this year - not worth complaining over ,,,,again
- I will just go to the next couple of Krogers down the road that do not have a 3 like coupon policy or some such nonsense.
Called one store and the cs rep asked what did I mean with the phrase 3 like coupons? Then she asked if I meant that I am copying my coupons or trying to use 3 coupons on 1 item.Obviously it's crap rules from one rogue manager.

my kroger hasn't changed anything either, the manager knows me (and my parade of kids) quite well, and said no change is in the near future. No limits. I've seen them analyze every single coupon for less-frequent shoppers. I've been going to this store almost weekly for almost 7 years. I love that 75% of my kroger's emplyees have been there for years (cashiers, cs reps, managers, etc.) and all know me. It helps a lot when you're a "regular" and they trust you.

Thanks, Jaws ! That is a really great article ! I think this is going to be one of those YMMV issues. Sometimes it may help to carry around an email or printout of the official corporate store policy to show a manager if you run into trouble.
You are going to run into that manager who is rogue and does it his way but it's important the store knows they will lose customers if they don't stand by their policies.
