Thumbs Down Kroger coupon policy and bad taste in mouth!!!

I was recently visiting my mother and saw an add for Krogers (I do not have one where I live) I went online to view their coupon policy and it does not state a limit on the number of coupons used. I proceeded to purchase 10 like items using 10 manufacturers coupons. I was refused at the register and was told by the manager that Krogers does not do extreme couponing (I didn't know 10 was extreme??). I contacted corporate to explain my problem. I received an email stating what their coupon policy is (again no limit mentioned) but that "The store manager has the right to accept, decline or limit the quantity of coupons or items used or purchased in a single transaction, by a single customer, or in a single day." What is the point of having a policy, if the manager can simply decide while I am standing in line whether they will accept my coupons. If the store is being reimbursed for my hard work collecting coupons, seems the only thing they lost was my business!!!

    Had this happen last year.
I rode with several friends to check out the megas last year and do lunch.
We drove 1.5 hours each way to the store.
Tried to buy a total of 20 of the mix and match megas and a few frees. The most of one item was like 6.

I was told how people sell their stuff on ebay and that Kroger wasn't going to let "us" do that to them. He went on to say how most families don't need 6 or 10.
Um yeah, I was there for the mega!

Anyway, the District manager was very upset.
He sent me a $25 gc to cover my gas and coupons and vowed to chat with that manager.

Haven't been back. Normally I go for a few megas a year.
Gas costs too much and too much competition for what they have on the shelf.

    I say call the dm.

What stores were both of you in? I don't want to shop there. Mine lets me use as many as I want. That would tick me off royal.

How in the world is 6 or 10 considered extreme?!? I think most smart shoppers would buy quantities within that range at the sale price, even without coupons, so they didn't have to pay full price over the next several weeks. What I mean to say is, it can't be that rare can it? I run into couponers on every trip I make, we're everywhere! That would have upset me as well, so sorry you had a bad shopping experience.

Don't the MEGA DEALS say "WYB 10" you get the sale price? Why is it OK to BUY ten but not use ten coupons? Seems OK to use ten one dollar bills though to pay for those ten items-LOL!

I was going to say...ya.....they want you to buy 10...or they wouldn't have 10/10 sales.

I shop at a Dillons which is a Kroger store...but not in the South East...but midwest. And the only limits we have seen were purchasing 10 gatorade or vitamin water with or without coupons because people come in and buy them all and don't leave any for the other customers.

When I've had other stores, change there coupon policy each time I go in...(aka wags anyone) I just end up not returning.

    Excellent point.

It's funny that the store manager used the phrase "extreme couponing" since I saw an episode where a lady went to Kroger and spent about $1K before coupons and used her coupons to get her items almost free.

I always check on that show to see what stores they go to.

I called my local Kroger and no one could answer my coupon questions so they transfered me to a store manager.

#1 Do you take competiors coupns ?> answer NO
#2 Do you double over .50 ?> answer NO
#3 Can you use a digital coupon conbined with a manufacatures coupon> again NO
#4 Can you get overage? > answer NO
#5 Can a manager restrict to many coupons used in one transaction?>answer YES
#6 Do you price match? answer NO

I was kinda surprised by these answers. I have started shopping publix more. They do accept competitors coupons and that means a lot to me. Who has time to run around town to every store.

I agree with you again, Tmauragas ! I think overall, Kroger has cheaper prices but Publix has better deals. Especially all the BOGOs.
