QUESTION Kroger Doubles/Triples Events... why none in the SE?

I've been couponing almost a year now and I have never seen local Krogers (in Atlanta) double coupons up to .99 for a day or a week or anything. Am I just missing these things, or are Southern Krogers stingy, or what? (From what little I've heard about the upcoming Mega Event, it doesn't have to do with doubling coupons---please correct me if I'm wrong!)

The Krogers where I shop in Durham, NC do not double or triple q's over .50 cents-ever. Called cust. serv. and asked about this and they suggested I speak with the store manager; talked with the manager about it and basically told her I would give her store more of my money if they did double up to .99 cents or have special triples and she wasn't too receptive-still belives coupons don't really save money because, "they're always for .25 cents off 6, right?" She tried to convince me that they're prices are much better than Harris Teeter's and that I could save more money shopping Kroger regularly without the extra coupon savings-she just wasn't getting it. I called customer service again and asked them if they could just forward my request to the district manager-haven't heard anything yet. Let's face it, I get free and really cheap stuff at Harris Teeter ALL THE TIME, Kroger is never (oh, I hate dealing in absolutes) going to advertise in their flyer how I can get cheese and cereal for free.

My Kroger in N. Ala. used to double to .99 and I think triple to .50, but it's been quite a while, anyone know how long it's been? 4 or 5 years? My mom might remember.

Thanks for your input. Sad that store managers just don't get how it works. Sometimes my Kroger has a display with two shopping carts full of the same items, one from Publix and one from Kroger. The receipt totals are circled and everyone can see that it was a little less expensive to shop at Kroger. But that's for people who go in mindlessly and pick up whatever they want off the shelves. Even then, I see some things at Kroger that are more expensive at regular price than at Publix, and vice versa. No one can say that their store has the lowest prices "overall." I do wish I had a Harris Teeter nearby, but with Publix (and the occasional good Kroger sale!) I can't really complain. Hoping this mega event is going to be a good one.

philekallista do you use the loadable coupons too? (onto your kroger card)

I shop strictly @ Kroger. I will not set foot in publix unless it's an amazing deal. I find publix to be way over-priced and not very coupon-friendly.
I love that I can use the loadable coupons on my kroger card AND use paper manufacturer coupons. -- stacking them. They also have no limits as to how many q's they'll double or how many you use (aside from the standard one paper mfc per item)

I do use the Cellfire, P&G and now Smithfield loadable q's. I love those and have never had problems with them working. It *is* nice to stack them. The P&G mega event a couple weeks ago was especially fun because of that.

I just find that the weekly Publix BOGO deals usually have something to attract me, though I do loathe buying anything full-price there (I almost always manage to avoid it). I have better luck with their produce and meat departments, both with customer service and the product quality.

The only store in my area that I remember ever tripling was Ingles and that was just a one-week deal. I've never known kroger to triple but I've only been paying attention for the last couple of years really. Before HCW I did most shopping at Walmart. But I agree with peachysteph that for my purposes Kroger is my go-to store. But I usually get a few bogo things at Publix especially if I like the penny item. Gosh I wish these stores WOULD double up to .99 and triple!
