IDK I always thought that the only way to get rain checks was when they were out of the product .At least that is the way I have done it .
Okay good thing my computer froze or this would be a long vent....
We are about to go out of town this weekend so I just ran into Kroger to get bread and grapes and pick up some rain checks. Well.... I was denied the rain checks. I wanted rc for the following: Tyson chicken, ground turkey, gatorade and grapes. The cashier started filling them out then picked up the phone and called the butcher dept and grocery dept. During the second phone call I said "what is the problem?" since she took one off the counter. She said " they said they have a whole shelve back there so you can't have theses" SHOCK! I looked at her and said "well the store on XXX highway always give me a rc for anything in the ad" Cashier" :" No No honey it is only if we don't have it on the shelve" Okay first I am a 35 year old mother of two who homeschools and runs a support group so the Honey comment pissed me off or broken the camels back at least. So I said FINE I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS TO XX HIGHWAY. I didn't yell but I was fuffy. I walked off so I didn't see her reaction or wait for her to say something.
The thing is there was another woman next to me who wanted a rc for the 4/12 Coke sale since they were out of Diet Vanilla. The other cashier wanted to know how many Vanillas she wanted and what other ones was she going to get. The customers said I don't know, can't you just write what the ad says. The cashier said no because they had some but not the one you want.
This is not my normal store and I will never go back. Is my normal store wrong to give me rc even if there are items on the shelve? That is how I have be able to save by ordering coupons. Have I just been lucky?
I am not a big writing and complaing to the main office, I am more just don't give them my money. what would you do?
Now I need to go to my normal store tonight or talk my husband into stopping by on the way out of town tomorrow. :hectic1:

It is my understanding that they would have to be out to get the raincheck. It's quite a money loss to be selling them after the sale if they were stocked in the first place. But having said all that I'm still sorry your day was shot!

IDK if I am just lucky at my normal store or what. Because I have gone in on a Monday no payday week and ask for rc because I don't have the cash to buy it right then.
I think I was more annoyed but her rudeness then anything else. And top it off the check out cashier denied me a coupon because a short cut coupon came off. "I couldn't use them together" then wouldn't take it off because she "didn't know how". Fustrating! I haven't dealt with this type of behavior in over a year.

well I hate to tell you this, but the purpose of a raincheck is to get a "rain check" for the deal because the items you want are not in stock. I think you've just gotten lucky until now.

Rain checks are for when the items are not available due to stock issues. It is the store's fault for not having the product in stock. It is not the store's fault if you don't have the money in hand at the time of the sale. Sorry for your troubles.
yikes
WOW!!! Just WOW!
The purpose of a raincheck is to allow you to get the sale price of an item when it's not available when the item is back in stock.

Yes, I think you have been lucky to egt them up until now without it depending on the stock. Other posters are correct about this.
I recently had trouble at Albertson's though with a raincheck because I wanted to buy the Breyers ice cream that was 10/10. They only had vanilla and chocolate, and none of the good flavors. When I asked for a rain check they said they would not give me one b/c they still had product in stock (even if it was flavors I do not buy). Ithought this was a bit concrete and pointed it out to the CS person. If they are out of froot loops they don't expect you to buy cocoa puffs. I got the RC but the guy wrote on it "cookies and cream only!" - I guess I won't be buying any vanilla!
But... But... Isn't that the definition of a rain check?
