"Manager's Specials" and Coupons??

My Kroger had Healthy Ones Lunch Meat for $1.99 as a "Manager's Special" since the "sell by" date was in four days. I tried to use my $1/1 coupons from the 05/17/2009 Parade insert but was told that you can't use coupons on Manager's Specials. Has anyone else run into this?

Never- I've always been able to use a coupon on Manager's Specials.

*snorts* That's along the line of "But it's already on sale!" Heaven forbid a coupon be used. My usual reply to something like that is "And?" with an arched eyebrow. Methinks you had an ill-trained cahsier.

I never had a problem with using a coupon on a Manager's Special. Call the service desk at your store and ask. Maybe the cashier wasn't aware you could use a coupon with the special.

that just makes me soo... upset! Just when I try to give Kroger another chance. I didn't understand why it would be an issue since they would be reimbursed anyway, right? It wasn't even a printable and those are the ones they like to deny. GGRRRRR!!!!

Coupons on markdowns always beep at my stores and the cashier has to push it through. 9 times out of 10 they don't know how to push it through so they claim they can't take a coupon on a manager markdown. I gave up trying it at Kroger long ago because they were always be so rude to me when refusing it and even ruder when I asked them to take the marked down product off my order. Hope you have better luck OP!

I would tell them what I tell my students.
"Coupons are promisorry notes from the manufacturer to pay face value of the coupon PLUS .08 cents to the retailer for processing. You take promissory notes don't you?).

And then you would probably have to explain what a promissory note is!! LOL!!
