Kroger (Southeast) ~ Question: Angel Soft Qs were NOT doubled. =(

So I finally acquired enough of the .50/1 Angel Soft tp coupons to justify the 80 mile round trip drive to my closest Kroger. It went horribly!

First thing was the price. I read that it was 1.00/pack. Got to the store and it was 1.28/pack. I thought ok, so .28/pack after the coupon is doubled. Still a decent deal.

I put 10 packs in my buggy (cause I was gonna break up the transactions), went through checkout and none of my coupons were doubled. I asked the cashier about it, she asked someone else and all he said was, "It's up to the register to double or not." "If it doesn't do it there's nothing we can do about it."
WTHeck??? :shrug7:

So I paid 9.01 (after taxes) for 10 packs of TP that I drove far too far away to get. I am super bummed.

Can anyone tell me why the coupons did not double? I would appreciate all the help I can get. I just want to understand!

Did they scan your Kroger card? That might be why they didn't double.

Maybe you can call their corporate offices. Maybe they can add money to your card to make up for it.

In my experience you have to scan the Kroger card before giving the coupons or the coupons will not double. I forgot one time and had to go to customer service to get an adjustment. HTH

Ding. Ding. Ding. I believe we have a winner!
The cashier didn't scan my card until after she scanned the tp and my coupons. I had no idea that made a difference. What a shame. I live much too far away to go back and have it rectified.

I've had them scan afterwards and it still double. I would call corporate and have them put the money on your card it should have doubled.

I'm on hold with corporate right now. We shall see what he says.

EDIT: OK, the guy could not tell me exactly why they did not double, but he did load $5 on to my card from where they should have doubled. So, I guess it all worked out in the end. The only problem is who knows how long it will be before I drive that far out of town again to actually use the $5. My bad though. I should have called yesterday before I ever left the parking lot. Live and learn.

I'm glad you got it sorted out. But yes, their policy is to double up to $0.50 with no limit. If the register will not automatically do it (and the coupon does not read DND), they should be able to "push" them through to double.
