QUESTION What do you think? Should Krogers CLOSE during renovations?

My favorite Krogers is undergoing renovations. Aisles will be closer together than they were originally, aisle contents have moved BUT the overhead signs have not, customer service no longer knows where items are located within the store (not even the manager). They did put up a HUGE BEER sign on bright yellow posterboard for the beer aisle, but what about the everyday shopper that frequents this store? I'm frustrated when shopping here (I didn't know it was being renovated until I walked into the store and I was only picking up 4 items, so how hard could it be?...my mistake).

We have 5 Krogers within a 15 mile radius. The most northeastern store I stopped going to because they were drilling and hammering and metal sawing EVERY night when I went in and is not completed yet. Now THIS one is undergoing renovation. I personally would rather see them SHUT DOWN THE STORE and reopen with a 'grand opening' than have the customers searching for items they can't find and NO ONE knows where they have relocated the items to.

What do you think? Shut it down or stay open during renovation?

Shut down! One of my local stores did this and it was a mess. Everything was moved every week and the tags never matched the items. It was also dirty and smelled horrible the whole time. I wouldn't dare get produce or bakery items, they had to have dirt or dust on them. I know if it is your only Kroger it would be hard, but I didn't feel like it was sanitary!

You have a beer aisle? *blinks* Our liqour stores are all separate. I couldn't buy beer with my groceries even if I wanted to. WOuld have to go to the liqour store and pay separately for booze. You can access the liquor store from inside the grocery store, but it's a separate entity.

Just got done living through this...it was not fun...nobody knew where anything was and when they did the frozen food section they moved everything to the deep freeze and couldn't get to it. The workmen were always in the way and it was very cramped.
I am not a fan of the new layout they moved the entire store around.now mind you this store had been the same for 20 years so needless to say the "older" shoppers are ticked off to say the least.

Forgot to add: this is the best time to find clearence deals...the absolute best...it is the only good thing about the renovations...

CLOSE until renovations are complete! I have dealt with two now and it is a nightmare--especially with children! I need to get in and out as quickly as possible--that CANNOT happen with a million extra people in the store, the aisles a complete disaster and no signage!!

Here is a perfect example of why Publix rocks---my closest Kroger did modifications during the day and gave no apologies for the massive issues. My Publix across the street will be closing a few hours early and re-open the next morning with everything completed --Their motto is so TRUE...Where shopping IS a pleasure!!!

The manager on duty the other day just rolled his eyes at me when I mentioned that it would be more pleasant if they would shut down during renovations.

I agree with the other poster, no fruits or fresh veggies will be purchased, as there is no telling what might be in the dust (sheetrock dust, asbestos, metal shavings, etc).

NO, I was talking to a friendly manager whose renovation has pushed back, and he said that in order for the millions spent on renovations prices will be increased!!!! SO if the store closes then the prices will have to go even higher!!!!

My Kroger is going through this now too. Some days it's horrible. How hard would it be really to at least make some hand drawn temporary signs for the aisles? I've done laps in there just looking for chips and butter!
