QUESTION Question - Kroger Bread

I noticed in the weekly ad the Kroger Brand bread was $10/10. Has anyone tried their bread? Is it worth putting in the freezer for later?

Thanks in advance!

We do it all the time. In fact it is the only bread I buy, unless I have a free Sara Lee q.
I try to only buy it when it is on sale and then freeze a bunch. Thanks for the reminder, I need to go stock up tomorrow.

I've done the same thing. My kids don't seem to mind when it's been frozen but they aren't picky either.

Depends on what you want to use it for. I filled the freezer with it when Kroger had it 2/$1 a few weeks (months?) ago. It is just standard sandwich bread, nothing fancy. I don't think the loaves I got were very fresh--the bread is dry and thin, but it works good for toasting, grilled sandwiches, bread crumbs, homemade stuffing, french toast and the occasional PB & J. I think it's too dry for cold lunch meat and cheese sandwiches, but that's just MHO.
I like to pick up a loaf a french bread or some hoggie buns for a really good sandwich.

I don't like it after it's been frozen unless it is for french toast or bread crumbs - but that may be personal opinion. I buy it when I haven't/won't have time to make it at home.

If your store has the 3-day sale, remember that Sara Lee Classic white bread is .98 through today. That's .02 cheaper than the Kroger bread.

I always look for the Kroger bread on Manager's Special for .49 - .79, usually a weekday morning in my store. I freeze them too. We use it for a variety of things mentioned in above posts.

I usually buy Kroger bread on Manager's special and freeze it. DH is the one who eats it the most, and he says it's fine.

We hate it but buy it if we have too. I have a store by my house that sells name brand bread for 1.00 every day! And they don't sell "day old" bread. It always has an exp. date of two weeks usually. I buy Nature's Own Whitewheat most of the time. Sometimes I buy Sara Lee and they are always 1.00. They also have hotdog buns in a 16 ct. package namebrands for 1.19 a package.

WOW! I'm jealous! Bread is one of the only things that I actually splurge on. I would love to get good bread for $1 loaf.
