Kroger says there's been no limitation on coupon policies

The Kroger Co. ( KR - news - people ), which operates the nation's largest traditional grocery chain, launched a website about 18 months ago that allows customers to download coupons to their store discount cards or onto home computers to print. The site added a mobile phone coupon app last year.

"We've seen slightly more complex couponing, which can take longer for us to help our customers exit the store," said Kroger spokesman Keith Dailey.

The so-called extreme couponers make up a small portion of customers and Kroger has not been forced to limit coupon use because of the trend, he said.

"But we're certainly keeping an eye on the industry," Dailey said. [unquote]

Our Kroger limits to 3 coupons for the same item per shopping trip, per day.

My Kroger allows unlimited doubles and as many of similar coupons you have. At least it was that way the other day. I got 20 of one item with no problem. But I am not happy about the u-scan that you have to now do all the work but then the cashier has to scan the coupons. Before you scanned your own coupons then put them in the drawer slot, then they changed it to give to cashier after scanning. Now it won't let you scan at all:( and I think it is because I have read that people were making "coupons", they would scan a real coupon then put a piece of thin paper in the slot and keep the real ones, how low is that? Of course the cashier missed 6 of the coupons, and then got mad when I told her she did. She put them in her pocket I believe since it made the item free after doubles and she realized it. I have had problems with her for years, but she is still there.
