Would you be willing to tell us which Kroger in Michigan that was? I want to save. :) :)
Although I have been going to Kroger stores for a few years, a friend of mine was recently bragging about a particular Kroger all the time. Since she had been going to the one in the town I lived in, as had I, I asked her what was so special about this one all of a sudden?
Well, it turns out this Kroger will double coups of $1 or less. Woo Hoo! The ones I have been shopping at double .50 and less, but $1.00 being doubled? AWESOMENESS!
We went a few days ago and they were having the $5/10 participating items. We stopped to ask an employee to see if there was a limit on this. She informed us there wasn't, but we wanted to double-check (sorry for ever doubting her) and she was indeed correct. We both got 20 participating items.
I don't know if this is something new or only at certain Kroger stores, but if you bring in your own bags, we were able to get a one time 100 point credit, which was great cuz it automatically qualified us for .10 off gas @ Shell or .20 @ Kroger stations.
We actually looked for a new item there has been a coupon for and it so happened there were two employees. We were told they were sold out fast because of it and asked me if I had a coupon so she could see it. I obliged and she said, it was no wonder they sold out as they did and said she was going to now increase the order she was about to put in so they could have them stocked up well. LOVE that attitude!
My friend checked out first, and I couldn't believe her beginning and final bill. We learned that they only accept 3 like coupons for $1 coups, and some items we had four coups for, but we still got the products. Then it was my turn. Man, was I nervous, cuz I had $100 on me and I didn't even keep track of what I bought, which I NEVER do..lol My bill was $164+. OMG! I panicked. I gave my Kroger card info, then my coups. At first, I saw the - signs slowly add together to give me a preliminary total. Yikes! Still kinda high and not enought $$ to cover it all. So she rings up the coups and I was amazed!
Between the Kroger card, the coups, and the sales, including the 20 participating items deal, my bill came to $70+. All I heard her say, in a proud, booming voice, was, Congratulations! You have saved $94...!! With her announcement and seeming like everyone was looking at me, I felt like I was on "THAT SHOW"![]()
Well, this is my new favorite store, as I had put off really grocery shopping with coupons, except some items at Walmart.
Walmart is now second fiddle for groceries and way down the line for personal hygiene products I can find cheaper at 3 other stores.
It was a great feeling unpacking my groceries and I love having a full fridge and freezer! Plus, there are munchies so no one can say, "there's nothing to eat in this house!".
We cannot wait until our next trip and I'm already planning ahead for it this time.

If your near Toledo, I hear the one in Perrysburg does this since they are right next to a GE. I have yet to try it out though. :)
Mommy to 3 wonderful monkeys, 3 dogs, 1 cat, and 1 Fiance in training.
Just to make it clear, that Kroger I pm'ed u about doubles $1.00 and less coups. So, if you have $1 coups, my dear, you will get $2 off!!!!
They even put thru the coups that state "Do Not Double". Now, is that freakin exciting or what
As for how to plan for a sale with your coups, I'm afraid my first trip was no example to followIt was a disorganized mess. I went with a friend who was braggin about the store, and while I am normally VERY organized, I didn't prepare for that trip at all.
However, I would surmise the best way to plan, and what I intend to do this coming week, is to first get your Kroger ad. At least in my neck of the woods, the sales DO NOT start on Sunday, but rather Monday. Not sure if this is the case for all "K" stores.
The nice thing you can use to your advantage is that having the sale starting on Mon affords you time (hopefully) on Sunday to map out your plan of attack.
So check out those ads and see if there is even better deals, such as the 10 for $10 or $5 off 10 selected products. Keep your tally of the items. That is important for the $5 off situation.
Also, you may want to check with a manager or the customer service desk to ask if there is a limit on any deal. That is what we did with the aforementioned $5/10 sale. We were told there there was no limit, which was great, cuz I ended up getting 10 propel that was $1 ea and due to the $5 deal, they ended up being .50 ea.
On the flip-side, you don't want to assume there is no limit, and go to check out only to find that those extra items will not be valid for a discount.
The awesome thing is that you can always use your coups on those sales! Say I had .50 ea off Propel. That would've mean they were free!
What I plan on doing next week might take a looong time, but it may well be worth it. I'll have to see how much patience my shopping buddy has, though![]()
I have already set aside $1 coups for non-grocery items, such as personal hygiene items, cat/dog food, cleaning supplies and paper products. I want to see what some of these items cost, and then determine if it is a GREAT deal with the $2's off.
I also plan on looking at the trial/travel sizes to see if the coupons would be valid. If they would, that would mean scoring some FREE products, no doubt.
I'd love to hear about your trip afterwards, everyone. If I find something that is especially awesome, I will be sure to post it.
Oh, one more thing. BE SURE TO CHECK THE CLEARANCE SHELVES AND USE YOU COUPONS!
Happy shopping![]()
Thanks for your input,I will tell you all about it,when the Big D (Deal) goes down, really nice to know they double the (do not double one) Free Capri Sunat least I hope
I did call thier and they did say a limit of 3 alike coupons, did you find that to be true also???

Yes. I forgot to mention the 3 alike coups. Well, I remembered after my post, but then forgot again to edit & re-post, so thanku for that!
However, in regard to that 3 alike coups THEY ONLY PERTAIN TO $1 COUPS and NOT to the lesser ones. At least, that is what the manager told us. So, even though the $1 coups may say 4 like coups, Kroger will only process 3 of the same in 1 transaction. But unless there is a limit stated on the coupon itself, that is .99 or less, than there is NO LIMIT.
Can't wait to hear all about your treasure trip!![]()
So far the Kroger in Owosso and the Kroger in Lansing on West Saginaw doubles coupons up to a dollar, limit three for the same product. I had three coupons for General Mills that were $1 off 2 and a different coupon that had different barcode that was $1 off 2 and it even expired on a different day, and she said she couldn't take it. But the last girl told me that they could take it, but she couldn't double it, but there was a line forming behind me and I hate forming lines, so I let it slide...Also, as of now they no longer double the catalinas that were a dollar and under and they no longer double coupons that say "Do not double" (which I don't know whey they would do that to begin with.) LOTS of great deals now!
WOW! I live here in Lansing, and I shop that Kroger on West Saginaw and never knew that they doubled up to a dollar!I was going to plan a trip to Owosso, now I wont have to drive that far,Thank You. Im so excited!! a
shopping I will go.Well I just called west saginaw Kroger and the lady thier said no, they dont double up to a dollar, only 50 cents,so much for happy shopping, back to the drawing board
