Flying Insects Hatch from Kroger Rice - Refund?
I bought two 5lbs packs of Kroger Rice sometime back. Recently I've noticed flying insects hatching from the rice. I keep my rice in a container with a lid, so I'm pretty sure those insects came from the rice. It does not help that I find some maggot-like creatures with the rice as well.
Can I get a refund? Some questions I am thinking about:
1) How do I prove that the Kroger rice is contaminated? I mean all rice looks the same, I can bring my jar of contaminated rice and my other unopened bag... but that's not very solid evidence.
2) Can I get a refund after 90 days? I remember stockpiling the rice some time back...

Unless it's really recent, and or kept in pristine conditions (cool dark place) it tends to be common/normal/ and how I kept them in that environment (warm, moist, light) is what caused them to hatch.
Hate to break it to everyone...but there are bugs in most if not all grains...they just haven't hatched.
I had weevils hatch in a bunch of mac and cheese recently...I did not take them back...unfortantely they are just part of life.

Oh yeah, there's bugs/bug parts in pretty much anything that originates from the soil. The FDA allows for a certain percentage of bugginess in food.
More protein for us all!
OP, like CW&M Mom said, I'd think it would depend on how how recent it was. Over 90 days? Might be worth a shot to try; would think in that case, it would be up to the store. Might also depend on the original product's expiration date.
