I write mine down on pice of paper as I add them to the cart. I knew how $5 should come off but I was so ready to get out of the store I forgot to look. My twins are 4 so shopping with them walking well is not easy, thats why I usually put them in a car buggy but there was none left today becuase the store was so busy, due to the first of the month and the weather man calling for snow again. They are not bad kids but they want to put stuff they want in the buggy and will walk off to look at something they see and with one going this way and one going that way well you guys know...

I do something similar...but I use the hand-baskets...and I always try to plan ahead so I can take my time and double-check as I am checking out. When the weather is nice, I will also do several transactions...but that is such a pain...but i have to say it does help cut down on the confusion.

Overall-I really have a lot of fun, and wonder when someone at the corporate office is going to "catch on."

You put each set of 10 in a basket? What a good idea! I am always trying to arrange by like items, organize, count...count again, etc. Baskets. Simple yet profound. lol

the same thing about miss counting the $5 off on the mega sale happened twice to me too. Both times I was watching the register like a hawk and caught where it did not count properly. Both times the manager had to come and over ride the system so that the total would be correct. Never said a word or offered to give a reason why items did not ring up properly. Would not surprise me if Kroger counts on most people not watching as things ring up and so noticing when something does not ring up right.

Please consider using baskets to separate your Mega "10 items" only if you have a small order. Using "green" bags takes up much less room in your cart and then there are plenty of baskets for the other customers who are just picking up a few things. I'd hate for a little old lady to have to wield a heavy cart to pick up eggs & bread just so I could get my Mega thrill on, KWIM?

I say this mostly for the new folks who may read this - I know overall we're a great, considerate bunch of folk! :)

All my items were added as mega but the total $5 was not all gave to me, so dont just count the items to see that the regester counts them all look and make sure it took the right number of $5 off...it showed 6 sets of mega items for me but only took off 4 $5 instead of 6 $5 even tho they it showd that 6 should have came off.

Lady Margaret, no offense, but I definitely won't be putting unpaid merchandise into a shopping bag. That is the sort of thing shoplifters do and that security and employees watch for around here. Couponers already get a bad name when we get things free, I don't want to be followed around the store by security or cameras.

I usually only get 20 or 30 items in a Mega Sale. It would be easy to separate the cart into sections with one basket, to help organize and keep count of the Mega Sale stuff. There aren't a lot of hardcore coupon or bargain shoppers who would do it. But, if it became a trend, Kroger could buy more baskets or stop requiring an exact number count of items in order to get the sale. They could make it so ithe sale price would count on all items over 10 or over a certain dollar amount instead of requiring you purchase exactly 10, 20, 30 etc. I think it's a gimmick and they are hoping that people won't pay attention to the count or won't remember which items counted and which didn't once their cart starts to fill up.

In the past around this time of year, Kraft would have a fabulous sale on cheese and with coupon , I would get it for $.50 a bag. The sale that is at Kroger this week has Kraft Cheese (shredded) on sale for $1.77 so I'll be getting it for $1.27 a bag with coupon. Does any one know if this is the yearly Kraft cheese sale that they have? I don't want to burn all my coupons if this isn't the right sale. It just seems so much higher this year.
