Default Re: Kroger Delta ad discussion 10/14-10/20

Combine $4 manufacturer's coupon for Febreze noticeables with $3 P&G e-saver, for a $1 MM!

I also got a home mailer for $1 off a pail of Kroger ice cream- wasn't going to use this one but for this price we will go for it!

I am happy to see the apples get this low, I have been wondering if we would see the prices that we've been hearing about on the weekly e-mail. If the pears were .50 lb I would be beyond thrilled (my favorite fall fruit). I guess I will settle for apples as my kids will eat a pound a day!

These are also stockpile prices for pork and chicken as far as I'm concerned.

Not a lot of freebies this week, but decent prices on some things I've needed.

Some weeks I think I am talking to myself in here (or just to danas_mom- she always seems to humor me) . To encourage discussion this week, I am going to offer an RAOK potluck just to members of our forum. To enter, post in this thread and tell me something that you are going to make this week from this ad. You can of course supplement with stockpile items, but the bulk of the meal should be tailored around what is on sale this week. In your post, tell us where you are located so we can get a feel for who all is with us here. I will randomly decide a winner when I post next week's ad. Hope to hear from ya!

I'm not sure that I've ever posted, but I appreciate you putting this together every week Rebecca. It makes it so easy for me to know if I'm going shopping or not.

There is a coupon for The Proposal here: The Proposal $10 off blue ray or $5 off regular dvd

Thanks for the heads up about the Febreeze Noticeables, it's not the kind of thing I usually buy so I skipped right over it when I was looking at the ad. I'm sure I can find one of the $4 coupons around here somewhere.

I can't tell in the online ad if the party pail ice cream is "Deluxe" or not but there's a .75 shortcut coupon for Kroger Brand Deluxe ice cream. It's worth adding it to your card to see if it comes off if you're buying the ice cream anyway.

I am glad to see the Hershey's King Size in the ad 10/$10 again, my store doesn't mark it on the shelf and I've still got a few .55/1 Reese's coupons to use. Didn't want to pick any more up if they weren't going to be free.

I noticed in the last weeks' inserts a blurb for www.therealmealdeal.com - there's a printable mail-in form for $5 in coupons WYB 5 listed products between 10/11 and 11/9. Aunt Jemima pancakes are one of the items, and I'm pretty sure they're part of the mega deal.

Your RAOK sounds fun! I'm afraid I can't participate as hubby isn't working so we're having to depend on the meat that's in the freezer and I don't see venison and moose in the ad.

Default Re: Kroger Delta ad discussion 10/14-10/20

I like your potluck idea! I'm in central Arkansas. The cheapest meal that I love to make based on this ad would be BBQ pork sandwiches. I put a pork shoulder roast (or Boston Butt) in the crockpot all by itself, no water, salt, pepper, or anything, and cook all day or all night. Then, I take it out and debone it and get all the fat off and it practically shreds itself because it's so tender. Then, I put it back in the crock pot with whatever BBQ sauce I have (lots of Kraft, of course ) and cook on low until I need to serve it. This is such an easy thing to have for company on Sunday as you can cook it all day Saturday, shred it that night, put it in the fridge until morning and then turn it back on low with the BBQ sauce and it's perfect when you return home from church.

To go with the sandwiches, I would make some cole slaw with that .45/lb cabbage and either an apple pie or fried apples with the Granny Smiths that are on sale. I also like to serve deviled eggs with this meal and maybe potato salad and baked beans.

Hope you enjoy!

BTW, this morning, I went to one of the Krogers here and they had so much good marked down produce!! I got 3 bags of granny smith apples marked down to .79 each and I froze them for apple pies. They also had a lot of rotisserie chickens marked down to 2.39 so I bought 3 and deboned them and put them in the freezer for some easy meals. I'm tempted to go buy some more. I love mark downs!!

Ooooo! Sounds fun! Count me in...need to work on menu planning anyway!

Yes, thanks for mentioning the Febreze Noticeables. I found one of the $4 MQ's so I'll get one of those for my home office. Hopefully my store has the seasonal scents (love pumpkin spice), if not DH gets one for his classroom!

I plan to stock up on chicken & pork too. The apples look good and hopefully I'll run into some of those awesome produce markdowns too!

Hi everyone! My name is April and I am in Searcy, AR which is approximately 45 miles north of Little Rock.

Here's my meal idea using items from this weeks ad:

MOIST & TENDER SLICED QUARTER PORK LOIN, $1.68 lb
GRANNY SMITH OR ROME APPLES, 2/$3 (3 lb bag)

Baked Pork Chops & Apples

2 Tbs. butter
6 pork chops
4 apples
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel, core and slice apples.
Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a plastic bag.
Place the apple slices in the bag and toss to coat.
Melt the butter in a skillet.
Salt & pepper chops then add to the skillet to brown on both sides.
Spray a large baking dish with cooking spray.
Place the apple slices in the bottom of the dish. Any leftover cinnamon sugar can be sprinkled over the top of the apples.
Place pork chops on top of the apples.
Cover dish with foil and bake for 1 hour (or longer depending upon thickness of chops).

Sides: mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, broccoli, brown rice, green beans...really whatever you like (or have in the stockpile)!

OK- don't want anyone to feel like they can't play if they aren't buying meat this week! New rule- post a meal idea from the ad, whether you are actually planning on making it or not. See, the benefit to being the mod and running the RAOK is that I can just randomly make up rules as I go!

I already had the pork barbecue on my menu for this week- that is exactly how I do it, Stacy! Thanks for pointing out the cabbage, though- I probably would have overlooked it. April, your dish sounds great, I will have to give that a try. I have done something similar with a can of apple pie filling and Stove Top on top but yours sounds healthier!

Keep 'em coming!

Hi everyone! I'm in central Arkansas too, so I thought I would join in. Thanks for the heads up on the Febreeze Noticeables and the produce deals. I'm hoping to find some good deals on my shopping trip tomorrow. After looking at the ad, I'm thinking that there is an aquafresh toothpaste coupon out for .50 cents and if it works then these are free! Also, the Pantene stylers are .97 cents with the $1/1 coupon from the P&G insert and the P&G esaver.

All of the meal ideas sound delicious. My meal idea is pretty simple using the Bryan Smoked Sausage on sale this week for 2 for $4 with the Red Plum coupon and a package of Zatarains Red Beans and Rice Mix on sale for a $1. It's sort of a jambalaya.

I saute chopped green peppers and unions in some olive oil.
Add diced sausage and mix until fully cooked
Add a can of italian-style diced tomatoes
Mix in 1/2 tablespoon of Cayenne pepper
Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
Serve over cooked rice and beans
*since the pork is marked down you can add some chopped cooked pork or serve this as a side

For dessert I was thinking about making an apple-pear crisp pie

Peel and thinly slice 4 granny smith apples
Peel and thinly slice 4 pears
Mix slices with
1/3 cup of sugar

1/4 cup flour

1/2 a tablespoon of ground cinnamon

Pour slices into prepared pie crust and top with mixture of 3/4 cups of crushed vanilla wafers, 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1/4 cup of melted butter. Bake covered at 375 for 25 minutes then uncover and bake for another ten minutes.

You might top this with some ice cream since its on sale this week.

Thanks pedspeech for all of your hard work every week. You have been such a great help now that I'm swamped with work and don't have much time to coupon and meal plan.

Victoria
