I already had the pork barbecue on my menu for this week- that is exactly how I do it, Stacy! Thanks for pointing out the cabbage, though- I probably would have overlooked it. April, your dish sounds great, I will have to give that a try. I have done something similar with a can of apple pie filling and Stove Top on top but yours sounds healthier!

Keep 'em coming!
Glad you mentioned that! I forgot to add a variation which is to prepare some stuffing and then add it to the dish on top of the pork chops. A yummy "fall" inspired dish all in one pan!

Everyone's recipes sound great! It's so nice to get some fresh ideas, thanks for sharing.

I'm with Dana! You guys are coming up with some GREAT ideas. I love the Crock Pot BBQ, we do something very similar....but we add the BBQ sauce (Kraft of course ;) while it cooks, but just a little....about 1/3 a bottle....then shred it and put it back with fresh new bbq sauce. I made that so much this summer the boys (My 70 year old dad and my 19 year old son) are tired of it :(

I know most everyone is in "Tyson Country" but I must tell you guys, the Sanderson Farm chicken is by far the best brand money can buy. I learned of it when I lived in atlanta and I just love the quality. It's on a great sale this week, and I always buy stockpiles of the chicken tenders. These go in EVERYTHING!

We love to coat them in crushed coarn flakes, spicy seasoned salt and bake them for crunchy chicken fingers!!!

I follow $5 meals and that sweetheart that puts her ideas out everyday just had a great recipe for a crockpot meal called "Applesauce Chicken"....I am going to try that this week.

Here is her whole meal plan:
Applesauce Chicken
Brown Rice
Acorn Squash Mash

Ingredients
2 large chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs.) ($2.28) On sale for $1.49/lb at a local grocer this week!!!
Salt and pepper, sprinkled over chicken
1 tsp garlic powder ($.05)
1 1/2 cup applesauce ($.50)
1 Tbsp apple cidar vinegar ($.05)
1 tsp cinnamon ($.05)
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1 medium acorn squash (about 2 lbs.) ($1.02) Unadvertised sale of $.49/lb!
Butter or margarine ($.20)
3-4 Tbsp brown sugar, maple syrup or honey ($.25)
1 cup brown rice ($.40)
1/2 cup apple juice ($.20)
**Note: Use split breast chicken, chicken thighs or drumsticks to make this meal even cheaper!!!
Directions
1. Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place chicken breasts into base of slow cooker. Sprinkle chicken breasts with salt and pepper and garlic powder.
2. In small bowl, combine applesauce, cidar vinegar and cinnamon. Pour over the chicken breasts. Set slow cooker on high and cook for 6 hours, or low for 8 hours.
3. Cook acorn squash, same method as you cook butternut squash. Takes about 45 minutes to bake, so start at the same time as you start the rice to get them both on the table at the same time!
4. In medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of brown rice and 1/2 cup of apple juice. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 45-50 minutes, or until brown rice is fluffy.
5. Serve Slow Cooker Applesauce Chicken with Sweetened Acorn Sqaush and Brown Rice
Cost $5.00

Oh, and I live in Southeast Missouri, and must drive the three hour round trip to Jonesboro, AR Kroger, so I only get there once a month....You guys help me make my long trip worthwhile...thank you!

New rule- post a meal idea from the ad, whether you are actually planning on making it or not.
Awesome, thanks!!!

In that case...

USDA CHOICE BONELESS CHUCK POT ROAST, $2.17 lb
KROGER VALUE RUSSET POTATOES, $3.49, 10 lb Bag

GRANNY SMITH OR ROME APPLES, 2/$3 (3 lb bag)
KROGER PARTY PAIL ICE CREAM, $2.77

Menu will be beef stew served with Grands biscuits from last week's sale (may still be on, I didn't check today), with apple cobbler for dessert.

Beef stew:
Take approximately half of a large chuck roast and cut into bite sized chunks. Dredge beef chunks in seasoned flour (salt, pepper, garlic powder) and brown in canola oil. Remove from pan and put into crockpot. Chop some onion, celery, potatoes, and carrots into large bite sized pieces and put into crockpot with meat. Pour two cans of diced or stewed tomatoes into crockpot (or one quart jar home canned) then pour in enough water to just cover meat and veggies. Cook on low for several hours. Serve with Grands biscuits, or other bread on side.

Apple Cobbler:
Wash, peel, and slice enough granny smith or other baking apples to make about four cups sliced apples. Combine sliced apples with 1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar, sprinkle with cinnamon to taste. (I also add about a cup of frozen blueberries, yum!) For crust, combine 1 cup oats, 1 cup flour, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup chopped nuts, and 1/2 cup butter until mixture is crumbly. Pat down about half the mixture in the bottom of a casserole dish, top with fruit, and then sprinkle the remaining crust mixture over the top. Bake at 350* for 30 to 45 minutes, until crust is browned and fruit is tender. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Some good deals I found at my store today...

Gatorade 32 oz. bottles of G2 on clearance for $.59! I found these in a cart in the cleaning products aisle. There were several flavors including fruit punch, orange, lemon lime, rain and blueberry pomegranate. I had some $1/3 hangtags Q's that I found at Kroger about a month ago, so I got these for $.26 each.

Dole Pineapple, canned, all varieties I saw (chunk, slices, crushed, tidbits) are on sale 10/$10. If you still have the $.50/1 IP (no longer available as far as I know) these are free! I've been saving those Q's waiting for this sale to come back around.

FYI - the Sanderson Farms boneless, skinless chicken breast on sale this week has peelies for $1.00 off the chicken wyb a particular item. The three different peelies at my store were: French's onions (you know, that go on green bean casserole), Morton's Seasoning salt, or Ziploc vacuum product (starter or refills).

There are also $1 Q's for French's onions in one of those little "booklet" holders right on the shelf by the product.

April, made your baked pork chops and apples last night- it was a big hit! Thanks for the idea.

Anyone else want to play? Doesn't have to be anything intricate. My DH was out of town this weekend so the kids had "mummy dogs" (stockpile hot dogs and the Pillsbury biscuits that are still cheap/free this week) along with homemade applesauce.
