QUESTION Kroger Chain Stores:Self-checkout: Do you scan coupons or hand them over?

Sometimes when I do self-checkout, the machine asks me if I have any coupons, I select "yes" and it asks me to scan them.

Other times I select "yes and it asks me to hand them over to the cashier.

Is there any rhyme or reason why this is? Any certain days or times they have it set up like this?

I have such bad luck with self scanners, I don't think I'd evn try to do coupons at one!

Every time I use self-checkout I have to hand them over. I have never been prompted to scan it myself.

The one store within driving distance with U-scanners, the cashiers always input the coupons. But, the two Gerbes stores in Columbia, MO permit you to scan your own coupons.

I have to hand them over at Fred Meyer. They're owned by Kroger.

All the Kroger stores in my area changed the UScan over a year ago where they will not let you scan them yourself. You must give them to the cashier and hope she/he does them correctly.

At our Kroger stores (Ohio), we have to hand them over to the cashier. I have my husband walk them over to them, and I watch the screen to make sure they're right. If I'm at the self-checkout, I only have a few items anyway.

When the cashier is scanning them, we cannot see it being done, we just see a blank screen. Only after they are through scanning the coupons - we will be able to see what was scanned. Unless you know all the values of your coupons and how many was given to be scanned, it's almost impossible to know if it was done correctly until you can get the receipt and get a really good look at it.
