QUESTION Need opinion of Kroger Q policy interpretation

Need everyone's opinion.....

I tried to buy some Wholly Guacomole this morning that was discounted due to the upcoming "Best by" date. The cashiers along with the person at the service counter stated that they aren't to accept coupons on items that are marked down or considered "manager's special" because they are already discounted.

Looking all over the Kroger.com site not finding a coupon policy, I came to HCW and find this policy. Are they covered by the above saying:

The SM has the right to refuse any MQs

This adds another reason to be frustrated by a particular show as well as our local Kroger. My question.....Would contacting corporate be a futile effort because of this clause?

When it comes too interpretation of their coupon policy a far as Kroger is concerned, the only opinion that matters is that of the local store management.
I guess the markdown you are referring to is like a clearance price? Where the bar code has been replaced with a special price sticker? If so, the reasoning may be that the scan will not register as the specific item sold, but instead as a generic store markdown. So technically the coupon wouldn't have a matching transaction when it comes to reimbursement. Make sense?

I don't think it would hurt to call corporate, just don't be disappointed if they defer to the local store's interpretation.

Yes....it has a special sticker on it that says "Manager's Special." Therefore, the coupon beeps because the product UPC isn't used. Thanks for the input!

Ok...after vowing to never go in there again, I did. I bought a "manager's special" salad because I had a home mailer and a $1 catalina from Kroger, which would make it free. When I looked at the receipt, it indeed rang up exactly what the item was, so that reasoning is out the window. I still cannot figure it out.

Well seeing that different stores in different regions all have different rules on coupons at Kroger's stores (Fry's etc)-I'd say that they just said this. I would have just told them to put the item back and get my coupon back. I've often done this in stores because I'm not buying the product if I can't use the coupon I have.

I use coupons on those kind of things with no problem. The mark down prices of any kind has nothing to do with the coupon for the marked down price will is from the store and the coupon is from the manfacturer. The mark down price is a loss to the store and the coupon money is no loss to them at all for they get that back from the manfacturer.

The SM has the right to refuse any MQs

I feel that this is more for coupons that look fake, have to many of the same printables with the same number on them. You know coupons that they think could cause them to lose money.

That's exactly what I did!

I told the cashier that I didn't want them if I couldn't use the coupons.

I understand trying to protect themselves, but it was two insert coupons.

I had too motherofmolly! Someone else had the same experience within days of my frustrating experience, which leads me to believe that they had a meeting of the mindless. This is why I do nearly all of my grocery shopping at CVS and at stores out of town. I wish CVS would develop "SuperCVS" for a larger grocery section!
