That's a real shocker. My Kroger freaks out when it goes into the negative and I have to get something to make up the shortage. Good for you, great job.
I went to Owen's (kroger in my town) last night to get my husband some Vitamin C and remembered that I had some pasta coupons. I had a $3 coupon for the vitamins... they were mostly b1g1 free but the ones he wanted (chewable vitamin C) weren't included. They were reduced to like $6.79.
I went to the pasta and got 10 boxes of Ronzoni.. i only had 3 of the $1/1 Garden variety coupons so I also had to get some smart taste and whole wheat which were $1/2 coupons.
Long story short, the cashier rang me up and he said "that's weird, it says you owe NEGATIVE $.70" so he called over another lady and asked her what to do. She said, "you open the drawer and give her the change!" hahaha! They paid me $.70! I have never had that happen before! The guy behind me in line's jaw almost hit the floor :)
Just had to share with you all!!

At my store the cashier's accuse you of "coupon fraud", if you are getting the item for free or better.......![]()

The older cashiers at my Kroger's do the same thing!I've gone to Kroger's every day this week to get the free Ronzoni pasta, and one cashier told me that I shouldn't be allowed to get so much free stuff. OTOH, the cashiers at all the dollar stores, CVS and Walgreen's congratulate me on getting such great deals, and the Walgreen's cashiers offer me extra coupons and tell me to go get more free stuff!
Thanks everyone! I know it shocked me too! I woudl have been glad to grab some gum or something to makethe difference if they'd have asked but this lady didn't even act surprised! haha Our store is pretty big and there are always different cashiers.. There is ONE lady who has given me a hard time there but I just avoid her line :)
Congratulations. All of my Kroger is great about coupons and have no problem giving change back. I try not to go into the negative, but sometimes if you use a lot of buy one get one coupons this happens especially during a mega sale. Most of the cashiers don't even ask they just give it back. The most I ever went into the negative was $13 and some odd change.
It is the kroger policy here not to allow an e coupon and a paper coupon on the same item so I don't load e coupons to my card in order to avoid confusion for the cashier and myself.
