Kohls cash is deducted when returning a purchase, or you can take the full amount on a Kohls giftcard.
Had to return an item today. It was either take $109.00 cash or $147.92 on giftcard.
Naturally I, took the Giftcard.
I work the return desk at a retail store and can't believe some of the scams people pull. We catch most but some too late. We learn very quickly who "those" people are. I just can't believe some of the scams. I do believe in karma though.........

Ex-retail worker here..
I've seen some folks do some pretty crazy things to make "a deal". Kohl's in particular (IMO) gets the short end of the stick on some of their returns. For example..
Spend 100$ on black Friday and receive 30$ in Kohl's cash. Spend the Kohl's cash the following week on random items. Return items from Black Friday sale without a receipt and earn a gift card and keep the "freebies" from the Kohl's cash.
Or.. One thing that I noticed was that if you spent Kohl's cash on items (Kohl's cash has an expiration date) that you would get a merchandise credit that -doesn't- expire if you returned the items. Kohl's likely ups their prices when Kohl's cash is available to be redeemed, so if you don't want to pay the higher prices on things.. go buy some stuff and return it and spend your merchandise credit later (when a different sale is going on that you could "stack" with it.)
yes unethical, but did she maybe lie? when you return with the receipt, it will show if the kohl's cash is used or not and void it out if not, and reduce the return amt if yes. & w/o a receipt they will not give cash.
Sounds like she hurt herself in the long run.
