Help with Kohls cash and discounts?

We just got this store in my area, trying to figure out the deals, can anyone help?



Kohl's Cash is a promotion that is run several times per year. For every $50 spent, you earn a coupon worth $10 off your next purchase during a specified time period.

How do I get this, is it mailed to my house via usps? Do I sign up somewhere or is it only for Kohl's credit card customers?

You will receive additional discounts 12 times a year. Discounts are from 15% to 30% off your entire order.


Can I give these to someone else to use or do they have to be used by the person they were mailed to with the matching Kohl's credit card? Do they come in the usps mail?

I'm not sure about how the $10 thing works but they mail you the other discount things and you can often find promo codes that are good when you use the charge. They also email many specials. You might want to set up a separate account for this type of thing because it can really fill up your mail box (email). They also send out the $5 off $5 and up coupons on a regular basis and tons of people sell them on Ebay for $1.

The best scenario I have used is:

1. Go through Ebates to buy discounted Kohl's gift cards from Ebay
2. Go through Ebates to reach the Kohl's site for a percentage back
3. Use a promo code from the mailout for 15, 20 or 30% off
4. If no #3, find promo code for percentage off when you use Kohl's card
5. Use a free shipping promo if you don't get free ship on total of order

Seems like I'm leaving something out but that's a start. OK?

NOTE - All the above refers to on-line shopping. I rarely shop in the store. The 15, 20 and 30% off discounts I refer to are what come in the mail so they are easily taken with you for store use or you can use them online by entering the code in the appropriate place during check-out.

You earn Kohls cash by spending a certain amount, and the cashier will activate the Kohls cash and hand you the certificate while you're in the store. It's like a gift certificate.

You have to use it during the period specified on the certificate (you can't use it the same day in the store) and the lame part is that you can't combine it with % off coupons. So if you buy $50 of merchandise and have 15% off, you will give your Kohls cash to get $10 off your total and then you will get 15% off the remaining $40.

if you're shopping in-store, I found out there's no need to print the 15 or 20 percent add'l discount on everything they send via emails. They can scan the barcode off your phone so there's no need to print a paper copy and they don't have to keep it.

if you earned the khol's cash online they send the cert email you print and take to store. that is if you cant use your phone for it... i can't ... thats what happened to me in aug... i am new to khols too , i earned some in store and online... and had percent off.. and dollars off..they did combine all of them but as pp said they do reduce the amt by the $ off and the cash certs..then uses the percents off...but still imo its a great deal especially if you got clearanced or sale stuff... which you can do and use all the above on them!

I haven't been to Kohl's in a long time but the last time I went I gave them my % off first then gave them the Kohl's cash with my Kohl's card. It worked fine then but things change. I had $100 purchase with 30% off and $20 in Kohl's cash from a previous purchase and paid $50. (I rounded to an even #, my purchase was not exactly that amount but close.)

The discount thing you get in the mail can be used by others. A whole group of my friends go together and we pass the coupon down the line. It works great because everytime they are sent out, at least one of us gets a 30% off one. I saved $160 the other day and only spent $50. I always look at the clearance stuff. The main thing I buy there is the k-cups for my Keurig. With the sale and the 30%, I get them for $7. Pretty good deal.

When you go to Kohl's and purchase $50 worth of merchandise they hand you a $10 "gift card". It generally has a start & end date on it. The start date is generally 7 days after your purchase. So, for instance, if you went tomorrow and got the $10 card you wouldn't be able to use it until the following Saturday. Then it would expire the Saturday after that.

Yes, they come in the mail and yes anyone can use them. My mom gets Kohl's stuff in her mail occasionally and as far as I know she has never sat foot in one. She gives them to my daughter and me.

I don't believe you can do this anymore. The discount coupons now have your name near the % off, and the cashier is supposed to check the name on the coupon against your CC name.

At least, this has been my experience recently. DH and I tried to pass along a coupon and we could not.

DH works for Kohl's as an area supervisor...I asked about this and he said that corporate has told them to check the name on the coupon against the card. But, if you only get a 15% in the mail most of the time they do scratch offs at the time these coupons are good. You can often get a higher % off by doing scratch offs (or at least at our store you can). I get the 15% in the mail a lot and usually get 20% in scratch off.
