why are they so strict?

i very rarely shop at Kmart but decided to go this past week because they had my frappacino's on sale that I love so dearly. I've noticed their advertisements about double coupons and figured there was a bit more to it because it had a little asterisk at the end of "we double up to $0.99!" anyway, as always when shopping at a new store I stopped at the customer service desk to ask about coupon policy. My goodness the hoops and rings of fire you have to jump through there! I was floored because I've never heard of a coupon policy that strict. I'm gonna try and remember most of what the lady told me (cause after I certain point I think I just stopped listening) ok...they only double on certain days (figured that much) you can only use 5 coupons per shopping visit, if you have more than 5 coupons you are not allowed to split up your transactions you actually have to leave the store. You can only use 20 coupons per day. You can only use 4 of the same type coupon in one visit even if you are buying different sizes, or varieties, they will not allow any overages with coupons, not even towards other items you are buying.
There were a few others things the lady said but I can't remember. She also had this attitude like it was her against me. I don't know, it's just too much trouble to shop there. I mean really, 5 coupons in one visit? That's insane! I got my sale items i went in there for and glanced at prices while I was there even their sale items were over priced!
Are the Kmarts in your areas like this?

Yes. Not that strict though. It is 4 like coupons. I usually get nice cashiers that like coupons

this has been their policy for doubles for some time. nothing new. you will get use to it. and it only applies to doubles.

Hmmm... I used to work for K Mart. But many years ago. We didn't get a lot of coupons but we did get some and some people did try to abuse them by buying the wrong product or using expired ones. We had all kinds of people pulling all kinds of things which is probably why they have to be so strict. In those days there was no limit on coupons. We didn't double them ever. But we did place limits on some sale items. One in particular was the 12 packs of soda pop. If there was a limit of 2 per customer then the customer could buy two, exit the store, put them in their vehicle and buy two more. They could do this as many times as they pleased. But in general they only did it once. Since I worked there, I would just buy two every day on my way out.

yep this is how my KMart sticks to their policy as well.
I am just happy that they are still doing doubles at some points in time!

Maybe I just don't shop there enough, and maybe i've been spoiled by my local bilo. Also, I'm not sure the lady I spoke with at the customer service desk explained it right from you guys have said. She made it seem as though you could only use a certain amount per trip/day with or without doubling. Also she didn't have the best attitude which is always a huge pet peeve of mine because I always go out of my way to be extra nice. anywho, thanks for your kmart advice.

I dont shop at kmart much at all...they NEVER double I have called to asked and was more or less laughed at..its about 40 minutes away so unless I just happen to be there I am not going there to just shop.

The only KMart (2 hrs away) is dirty and incredibly understaffed. Needless to say I don't shop at KMart.

It is nice that they do double coupons though, sure wish Walmart did this!!!
