    HOT Aggravated at Kmart

I went to Kmart today to get a rug that I've been wanting for a long time. They have a coupon in the ad for $30 off a HOME purchase of $100.00 or more so I picked up some towels and some stuff for the bathroom and my total came to over $100.00 she scanned the coupon and it wouldn't work so they told me I couldn't use the coupon, and I was also told that it had to be used on bedding and such stuff but the page that the coupon was on had bedding, bath and rugs and bathroom stuff. So I came home and called the 1800 kmart number and complained.

Kmart is notorious for that kind of mess with their coupons. I would have gone to the CS desk and insisted that they refund the amount of the coupon. Wow. I saw the name of this thread and thought "Oh boy, what NOW?" It's the same stuff, different day.
Sorry you had to deal with this. What was the outcome of your phone call?

I too have found my Kmart to be quite underhanded. I recently signed up for a Kmart Rewards card. I noticed the ABSOLUTELY RUDE clerk would take the catalinas from the machine and threw them under her counter when she thought I was looking away. Also the rewards coupons that print after your receipt she did the same thing with. She also complained that I asked her to get an item off the top shelf. Ummm, Hello? You are the one who works here, and I'm 4'11"; it just isn't happening! I would complain to the manager, but that WAS the manager. I did call the survey line and told them exactly what had happened. The next time it happens, I'm calling corporate.

You really should think about calling corporate about the catalinas and register receipts. If she's keeping them for herself, that's theft. I know a lot of cashiers don't understand how valuable they are to those of us who do deals to get them, and they're not always good about making sure they give them to the customers. It's one thing to absent-mindedly forget, but it's another story entirely, to put them aside.

I agree, you should let corporate/management know. My aunt works for KMart and the stories she tells about customers and cashiers amaze me (not in a good way).

One of her younger colleagues got fired because he was putting his rewards card info instead of the various customers. After being tipped off by a customer he was being watched by management. Having worked there for a few months maybe, he went to get himself a free tv. Management was called over and as they say, the rest is history.

I dare say most of these people are just clueless and not ill intentioned. You'd be amazed at the stuff people deliberately leave behind. I usually clean up after people regardless, sometimes I get the bonus reward of a coupon. It annoys me when people physically take the receipt from cashier and then place it back on the counter (like it's somehow going to help the next person), either say no thank you to cashier or be kind enough to shove it in your bag or the closest trash can.
