QUESTION what do you think about layawaying a Wii now for christmas

I don't do alot of kmart but I am considering it more and more. I know cato and kmart have layaway around here.
I saw that wii are on sale for 199.00 this week and I don't know how much it cost to put it on layaway but what do you think ?

I want to get a head start on it this yr. It will be back to school stuff then birthday stuff and Christmas is here.

I'm not a fan of Kmarts layaway. It's nice in that it's one of the only stores that still offers it, but it's kind of a pain in the butt. You have to have like 10%, I think, down, and then make a payment on it every 2 weeks after that. Plus I think they add a layaway fee to it, but don't quote me on that part, it's been years since I've used their program.

With the back to school and then birthday stuff you mention, I would just try and set the money for the wii aside yourself and buy one outright later, as they're bound to be down to that price or better nearer the holiday shopping season, though you do run the risk of not finding one (if they're still in that high a demand)

Since the Wii is not really a hot seller with stores being out of stock anymore, I agree with pp. I think you could easily save up for one by Christmas without paying any fees. Plus, around Christmas time, lots of stores will start running bundled ones with extra controllers and possibly a game or accessories for a good price. :)

We just bought a new one (our old one broke). We got the new one with Wii Sports resort ($50 value), and it came with the wii motion adapter you need for the resort game ($17 value). We paid $199, that seems to be the new price. I far cry from when we got the first one. DH waited in line like 12 hours over night :D And it was more expensive.

I would wait, i don't think that is a real sale, more than an advertisement of a new regular price.

no,don't put it on layaway.Their have been deals going since the black one came people have been getting brand new bundles as cheap as 125.00.I agree with other pp the closer x-mas comes the better deals your going to see.Last year TRU sold the wii and 6 other items as a bundle for 99.00 just keep your eyes peeled. If I were you I would make a money jar and sock away 20.00 a week(your own layaway plan)So when the time comes your ready to go,hth

Just as an example, Walmart now has a bundled one for $149 with a $50 e-gift card, so I think you'll be able to do better! Link here.

I would not recommend doing the layaway. I saved for a wii last year and bought one for the kids for christmas. I paid $199 but got a $50 gift card to best buy (price matched walmarts ad). Used the GC to get an extra controller. Just save a little each week in an envelope, just like making layaway payments.
