HOT Kmart Pharmacy GC Problems...argh!

Over the past year or so, Kmart Pharmacy has been offering coupons
in their sales ads/flyers for $10 & $25 Gift Cards
with the purchase of a new or transferred prescription.
I have taken advantage of the deal, as I do receive a lot of scripts
in my family, and without decent RX insurance, every little bit helps.

As of recent, I had a new prescription filled. I brought in the
coupon for the $10 Gift Card (that clearly states $10 for ANY new
or transferred RX.) I was told that I would only be given the value
of the prescription I was picking up (which was a little over $1.00).
She then asked her supervisor (I assume) then rudely stated
"You might as well hang on to this coupon until you have a script worth more than $10.00."

The coupon did NOT say "up to $10.00" for a new/transferred script,
as some have in the past. I tried conveying this to her, but it was a pointless argument. The only response I got from her out of that was "Well, honey, a lot of things have changed around here."

If they're not taking the coupons, then they're making you wait at least 1 hour to pick up a script once you drop it off. Or, sometimes even out of the medication a person needs.(Not a problem I've experienced elsewhere.)

I've even had scripts transferred via Kmart's Pharmacy site. BIG mistake!
I waited a couple days later to pick up the script that was supposed to be transferred, came into the store, and was told that they never received any transfer request. I asked them if they received it from the site, only to get a dumbfounded look and a response of, "You can transfer prescriptions on the website? This is news to me!"

So, this is my rant. I apologize for those who have taken the time to read it. I know I could just as easily have taken my scripts elsewhere, but most pharmacies in my area do not take competitor coupons.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems? :shrug7: Thanks.

There is a stipulation on the coupon, look for it..

They have always done this at mine. at least the past year, up to the value that my insurance company paid, not my OOP, but if it was a $4 generic, same thing.

They used to give you the face value of the coupon (a few times I had a CVS $25 transf which K-Mart accepts compet. coupons) and did get a $25 gift card when I transferred my waterpill (which cost me $.36 with my insurance). I think after K-Mart audited their phcy coupons, they decided to change their policy to what they have now. The phcst explained to me they can only give (up to what the coupon states), but not over what the insurance cost would have been. Example: Even though my OOP for the waterpill was $.36, my "insurance company saved me $10.15), so the gift card coupon (for $25) now, would be for $10.15.

Hmm mine have always done up to the amount of my OOP. I never cared much since my monthly RX is $9.86

Do they have any new coupons for the new year? All of mine expired 12/31/09.

I don't know about the gc transfer coupons, but my parents used to get all their scrips filled at Kmart, and they started having a lot of problems with not getting the right meds. Complaining to Kmart's corp. office got an apology, but the same people were still working there, and it happened repeatedly. Fortunately, my mom's a nurse and could tell that they weren't giving her the right thing. Not surprisingly, that store is now closed. Giving the wrong drugs to unsuspecting customers could create some serious legal issues for them, and is extremely dangerous for the customers. Hopefully other Kmart pharms are better!!
