    Default holiday clearance???

Our closest Kmart is quite a distance away and I was wondering if they have clearanced out their Christmas stuff and if not when they might do that.

I am in Alabama. Our store clearance the day after Christmas. I went in there on January 1st and everything was almost gone. By now it may be a wasted trip. HTH.

Woo-hoo! I went to Kmart today after reading on a blog how Sears.com has clearanced children's clothing as cheap as .36/ea! I have dial-up. Yeah. Not gonna happen. So I figured I'd go to Kmart and look around. I'm so glad I did! I think I did really, really well!

FYI: According to what I've read online, most (all?) Kmarts went 90% off yesterday (Jan. 18). All domestic items are ringing up an additional 50% off. (so 95% off total). And if you can snag some Christmas apparel, all winter apparel is an additional 40% off (so 96% off total).

At my store, the food/candy was 75% off, and the health & beauty gift sets were only 50%. I think the jewelry boxes were at 60%.

    So here's what I got:

    cards 90% off (.59)
    ornaments 90% off (.19-.59)
    napkins 95% off (.15-.29)
    glass jar w/cocoa mix 75% off (1.49)
    glass jar w/cookie mix 75% off (2.49) - Basically, I wanted the jar. =)
butter dish 95% off (.74) - Burgundy color, not Christmassy at all
Country Living bowls 95% off (.99)
Country Living tid bit bowls 95% off (.19)

    ....and for the clothing!
6/9 mo. girl's plaid dress w/bloomers ($1.79) (no tag, had to get UPC numbers off apparel tag)
5 girl's red dresses with white fur trim ($1.19)
    1 girl's adorable holiday outfit...with tights, really cute ($1.19)
    1 boy's "santa" outfit ($1.19)
10 assorted bodysuits that are holiday or winter themed (.36)

The things I am MOST excited about are the .36 bodysuits and the .99 bowls!! I found the Christmas clothing at my Kmart not with the rest of the clearanced children's winter items, but in the women's (or juniors...?) department. In fact, only the dresses were marked clearance (I think their tag said $3.99). None of the bodysuits had a clearance tag at all, but they were hanging with the dresses. The Country Living bowls are very pretty, and could be used not just for Christmas. They are white with blue accents. In fact, they don't look holiday-ish at all. The small tid bit bowls however have little snowflakes inside of them, that will make them seasonal. I picked up the big bowl and flipped it over to check the original price. $19.99! I thought to myself, "It's still $1.99. Man. If it was $1, I would've bought it." Knowing how Kmart sometimes is, I decided to scan it. It rang up for .99! How great! I bought five of them (and left two - one of which was chipped). These will make really nice gifts.

I feel like it's been however since I've done a good Kmart clearance trip. It felt good. =D

Okay. I have had seriously way too much fun at Kmart. =) Yesterday I went (again!) because a few of the items I had bought (napkins, ornaments) didn't ring up right. So they price adjusted those for me and refunded me the difference. We're talking a $9 overcharge. Crazy, right?

Side note: I noticed when I was there during my first shopping trip the TONS of clothing on clearance. Well, I was given some clothing for my little girl for Christmas that is now being clearanced. I only recognized three of the articles, but returning and rebuying those three items netted me $4.98 on a giftcard!

Okay, back to the point: While I was there, I figured I would do some shopping. Well, guess what? I found MORE bodysuits ringing up for .36! I wasn't even looking for them. While I was shopping I came across a bodysuit with a Spanish message on it. I remember seeing that on the sears.com website for .36. So of course I was trying to rack my brain remembering the different images. =) I was surprised that some of the obviously winter-christmas themed clothing wasn't ringing up super cheap. BUT - just on this shopping trip alone, I bought 24 items for .36/ea! A mixture of bodysuits and long-sleeve toddler shirts.

Weird thing is this: While I was going over my receipt when I got home, I realized that one thing I purchased rang up at $2.39. So I pored through my receipt, matching my UPCs on my items to the UPCs on the receipt, and accounted for all but one of my clothing items. Perfect, right? That must be the one that rang up for the wrong amount. Nope. The UPC on my shirt and the UPC on the receipt are totally different. So...what do I do? Anybody know? I would return it for the $2.39 if I could, but if the computer isn't going to recognize that as the purchased $2.39 item, it won't let me return it. Ditto for the price adjustment. So I may go and explain my situation ... or I may suck it up. I'm undecided for now.

But I'm set for gifts for quite a time! =)
