Kmart-Super-K Catalina $10/100 coupon problem?

Has anyone tried to use their Kmart Catalina coupon for $10 off $100 or more in conjunction with the double coupon event?

I had a horrible cashier. First she told me that I could not use my coupons for free products from the mfr. I told her that they do not double. Then she tells me that I have more than ten coupons (including the free product ones). I informed her that the free ones do not count as they do not double. She had to "go check" twice. She came back and it took all that she had to tell me that I was correct.

This is what I tried to buy:

4-Oil of Olay 4 pack bars - 4.00 (-2.00) = free
3-Axe Shampoo 4.99 (-2.00) = 99 cents ea.
1-Post Trail Granola 4.19 (-2.00) = 19 cents
2-Velveeta 32 oz. 4.49 (-1.00) = 2.49 ea.
Free mfr coupons
Glade S&S (-5.99)
Afrin Nasal (-6.00)
Touch of Gray (-7.49)
Snickers (-.89)
Hunt Ketchup (-1.79)
Oscar Mayer Beef Frank (-3.99)

I also added a package of steak, a package of chicken and two pairs of shorts so that my total was $104 before coupons. After all the coupons were deducted my total was $44.00. Then she said that I could not use the $10 off $100 because it had to be that total before the coupons were deducted and off she ran to check with three other cashiers.

The funny thing is, that I had no problem using the same coupon the day before! The people in line were snickering (other couponers) and rumbling that they too had the same coupon to use. So I had the meat and shorts voided off of my order and spent $11.45 oop (2.43 tax).

Has anyone else encountered this problem or were you able to use your coupon? The verbage on the coupon does not state that it will be applied after coupons are deducted. My attorney friend pointed out to me that the stores get the money back fromthe mfr for free coupons and that the coupon only states "before taxes and after discounts have been applied."


I have never had this problem at Giant Eagle, Target or any other store that has the same type coupon. They scan it first before my other coupons are deducted.

Suggestions anyone? Thank you!

I think you have to have them scan the $/$$ coupon first. That is how they do it at my kmart. They said if they don't do it that way then it wouldn't work.

I had the $5/$50 so it was the only q I had showing after that was scanned i opened my purse and handed the others!

gotta use the 10 bucks off first- also, you can not use the 5/50 or 10/100 with the current catalinas $3/$7/$14

One day it happened to me then the next day the man cashier took it no problem so I think it depends on the cashier you get. I am going to the cashier first to ask if she is going to have a problem taking it off because they all have different rules at the Kmart I go to.
