Ok so I was at KMart last night...

Had a few things (not my first trip this week )

I had a $3.00 coupon, not looking to double it of course but the price they had on the product was worth using it then. It will not scan. She tried twice and said "Oh well here" and tries to hand it back to me. (Notice I say tries). I said well you need to push it thru because I bought the right product and it costs more than the $3 (by .20). She said well it didn't scan, so I see where this is going... I said just set it aside and we'll deal with at the end. Then she scans one of my $1 coupons and it won't scan so... it is at the end too. We finish up and she grabs the $3 coupon and types in the register 1.79 and pushes that thru (thought she didn't know how to push) and says ok there. There what??? I said I don't think so, it's a $3 coupon, not 1.79, so she pushes thru 1.79 again and says that should be close enough.

Well by my math thats over, but she didn't seem to care. So onto the $1 coupon. She says well since you got over on the other one you don't need this one. WHAT?? This one will double and your .48 mistake doesn't make up $2. We end up with a manager over, she is explaining what she did (sort of) and I jump in with the timeline rundown. The manager fixes the $1 and left the .48 for my troubles. Then she looks at all the coupons I used, grabs one up and says how did you use this? UUmmm, with the product. Apparently she had the same coupon and had not found the product. They were in teh process of redoing that aisle so I told her where to find it. Then she starts telling me about all the coupons she used on her break!!! LOVED IT (eventually).

Glad it all worked out in the end! Id like to find a manager who loves coupons!


I had a similar situation at our local grocery. I had their in ad coupon for free milk when you buy cereal. Well their registers are stupid and their own coupons never scan so they have to push them. They cant push more than $2 at a time. So she put in $2 then $2 then had a 10 minute discussion about how to handle the other .09 and finally puts in .09 which of course doubles b/c she didnt deactivate the double feature. So then they decide to put in .04 and it will double and be "close enough". Well she put in .04 and it doesnt double so instead of typing in the additional .05 she types in .04 again. So they cheated me a penny which I didnt care about but I found it interesting that they bent over backwards and made me wait about 15 minutes so they wouldnt lose .09 but they made me lose .01 and 15 minutes of my time.
Of course it was just a .01 and Id have happily gave the .09 up to get on with my day but it was the principle of thing. Its ok to cheat you the customer but dont cheat us the store.

I don't think they're trying to deliberately cheat us. They're not very interested in having customers in their stores, corp or the employees... Kmarts wants to go backrupt, they do, they show us every time we go in!!....lol..
