40% coupon this week

everything i picked up was on sale this week. so i wasn't able to use my 40%. i finally went to check out with a few dollar items and a bottle of water. i got 40% off my water. the cashier didn't look too thrilled.

FYI, if the item you want to buy is on sale, but still costs more than 40% off the regular price, they will let you use the coupon and just give you 40% off the regular price (at least my store will)

Our store used to do that, too - and they'd let you use a coupon on a clearance item, since the clearance price was its new 'regular' price. But since the beginning of 2007, they no longer do this (or take Michael's coupons). It's really frustrating when I need a bunch of things and have 40 or 50% off coupons, and everything's already 25% off.

One thing to remember (and I always forget this myself) is that you can also use the coupon on magazines.

i've used my 40% on magazines too. i get frustrated when i go to use my coupon and the thing i want is on sale. so you all are saying that i can ask to have 40% off the regular price?
