The way I see it you are PURCHASING 2 salty snack items so you should be able to use 2 coupons. It doesn't matter what the cost of the item is. But.....we have issues at our store about the wine tags. My boss and I had a huge disagreement about use of the wine tags without purchasing the alcohol. They say no alcohol purchase required in IL but if they beep my boss will not let us use the coupons. She says no over-riding the system.

Hope that helps...sorry for the long drawn out answer

It is against state law to require an alcohol purchase on hard liquor. You may want show your boss this. Wouldn't the wine tags normally beep to ask for cashier verification or is this when it beeps and does not ask for verification?

As a winetag user (and probably speaking for other wt users) I run into this issue many times. Usually the cashier, 'will have to check with the supervisor' and you will wait for them to reread the clause that states, NLPR, in IL, and possibly other states (no liquor purchase required). You may have to point it out. You may have to wait for the store Liquor Supervisor to come and verify.
They may ask you: 'did you purchase the liquor' or 'where did you get the wt coupon' or 'did you get this from the liquor aisle', etc.

Just to make it clearer, the previous statement about the law, is for ILLINOIS only. Other states have different rules. Usually you will see the 'good' $wt's on spirits. My understanding is that the law applies only to spirits, in Illinois. You might see them on beer and wine though.

Before Jewel went to no expired coupons, some of the wt's worked on self checkout. Nothing seems to be working so you will have to wait for the cashier to input, (then see above).

It might help to use the same casheirs that are familiar with wt's, if they are on the shift when you shop.

    Good Luck

BTW - There is a Hornitos $3.00 coupon, expires 5/31, for produce, salty snack or mixer. Thanks to the fine people at Beam Global Spirits.

rifat, I am so used to thinking of Jewel's as being in Illinois that I sometimes forget that they do have some stores in other states. That is why I just said state law. Thanks for clarifying that for everyone else. I have seen a few people post here that shop at Jewel's in Indiana. I should have remembered. You are also correct about the law applying to hard liquor only and not beer and wine. You are also correct that some wine and beer tags also do not require a wine or beer purchase despite that it is not covered under the law.

there is one supervisor that understands it where i go.
the cashier will say you have to buy the alcohol in the same purchase.
i will tell her no I do not have to it even says on the coupon.
she then will tell me ill have the supervisor come over and explain things to you.
the supervisor asks whats going on we both tell her and then the manager says...
well if the coupon says no alcohol purchase needed whats the problem... scan it. if it beeps you know how to put it through ...

Some wine tags beep some do not its all in the way they are coded by the manufacturer, it has nothing to do with whether or not they need an alcohol purchase in IL because as it has been stated it is ILLEGAL to require a hard alcohol purchase on a coupon.

That being said the $3 mixer, produce, or salty snack winetag beeps but there are some $3 meat winetags out there that do not beep.

ISO) Winetag's good in IL (NAPN, NWPN)

I will be on vacation from 6/5-6/15.

i have some $3 meat wine tags that do not beep. but a $3 produce one that does.
the employee said it beeps bc even though an alcohol purchase is not neccessary it beeps bc there was no alcohol purchase but they will gladly put it through.
