Thank you Clars! When it states in the ad limit 5 (for instance) that limit 5 really means per shopping trip right? What I'm hung up on is when you swipe the preferred card, they know what you buy, thats a given. So if you go there on Monday and buy the allotted 5 item max, would it allow you to go back on Tuesday (or whenever during that sales cycle) and then buy another 5 limitted amount? Or would it beep and not give the sale/preferred card price as limit was achieved on previous order. Now I have not nor do I know personally know of ??avenu?? card BUT I am going to find out what thats about. So this question has absolutely nothing to do with avenu savings. Thanks in advance,
Jenn

Default Re: Jewel FAQs

The Jewels near me take expireds but some seem to have a problem with me saving too much money. At two seperate Jewels in the past two weeks the cashiers have refused to take certain coupons if the price and the coupon amount was the same. The first time the cashier actually said she would not take the coupon "because it would be like you were getting this for free!" When I stated that it would be free and she had to take the coupon she called over a manager and repeated her statement to him and showed him my stack of coupons. He said the she only had to take one coupon per item. I informed him I only had 1 coupon per item I just had a lot of items. Then he said that she could only take one coupon not multiples. When I asked why he called over another manager. She said that the had to take the coupons but I was holding up the line with all the coupons. The cashier then finished scanning my coupons but the whole time she keep saying how it was unfair that I was using all these coupons, not having to pay for items, and the other customers had to wait.

Two weeks later I went to a different Jewel to purchase a diabetes monitor they had on sale for $29.99 and I have a $30 coupon and the cashier told me I could not use the coupon because the item was on sale and I would get it for free. He said that he could charge me full price then I could use the coupon and pay the difference of $50. I had my 7 week old son with me and it was getting close to feeding time so I just left without it.

My last problem visit my avenue had $2.00 off Max Factor Eye products and I had 3 BOGO free coupons. I tried to use them and the cashier said that she would only accept one coupon because I was already saving a lot with my avenue and 1 coupon. When I said I wanted to use all three she said she had to call a manager. I just take my coupons back and left.

I am writing to Jewel corporate to complain. All of my coupons have been from inserts, no printables, all legit and not requiring overage and not refused for any problem other than I would not have to pay OOP.

I will just stick with the one Jewel that never gives me any problems (South Holland is great) and if they don't have it my SO will have to get it near his job in Orland Park.

When it is in the ad, like the 4 day sales or the one day sale. The limits are per transaction, but they will probably refuse to let you do multiples. You could go on different days or to a couple of different stores. I have never had a problem with the sale limits being tied to the preferred card.

Avenu savings are also tied to your preferred card. There is a kiosk normally near the entrance where you can scan your card and see what your special avenu savings are for the day. You can also check it online. There should be a thread about it here in the Jewel forums. Check it out.

Naless - Have you spoken to the store managers at these locations. That is some really bad customer service and as long as the coupon is legit, they should take it. It is not the cashier's job to monitor how much you are saving. If you pay nothing and the store gets paid from the coupon, what is the difference.

If you can, I would call and complain rather than email. The customer service # and the email both go to SuperValu's corporate. I have always had to call because I got a dumb response to my emails.

I had a cashier deduct my avenu savings from my coupon. I had 2.20 off Sara Lee cheesecake in my Avenu and I had a coupon for a free one. Well, the cashier wrote the price in and then noticed my avenu savings and deducted it from the coupon amount. I didn't feel like arguing and I have noticed that this cashier isn't very bright, so I let it go. My usual cashiers would have given me the entire value.

I think that contact information may be old as Jewel is now owned by Supervalu and not Albertsons...maybe an old sign wasn't changed?

That would be at your stores discretion but I have bought LITERALLY over 100 of an item and used a corresponding number of coupons on many many occasions.

I do ask my store to order for me so I don't clear their sheves/deplete their stock on hand.

Avenu per HH limits are set in stone....unless you don't buy the max...extend it and buy less than the max each day.

If your Avenu says limit 6 per HOUSEHOLD and you buy 6 it falls off your Avenu. It won't even show up on the printout at the next store.

The limits that don't say per HH are per transaction and you can do as many as you like as long as you split the orders up.

Default Who are the "coupon cops"

I'm sure this is sarcasm, but would this be a very nosey employee or a customer butting in?
