thanks cybilx10, you do a great job here! I am not to sure about this change, I had better luck with sales on line before all this change took place. I read on the site something about 2 days a month their prices would be better and how do you sign up for e-mails, its gone or I just can't find it.

    Thanks!

We have a jcp card and I only shopped there when they sent us rewards certificates $10 or $15 certificates for spending x $. Or when i was able to get some of the generic $10/10 qs. Match that with clearance and shopping out of season for my kiddos clothes I was in heaven!
Now I think if we can't get as good of deals and if they get rid of the earned rewards certificates I will be getting rid of my cc with them.
I'm not loyal to any store and I can bring the rest of my business back at Macy's and Gymboree for the kids.

I checked it out after they made the switch....

    Whole numbers instead of 19.99

Same prices as before just went up a penny to round it off.

    Difference:

No coupons or sales to go with those prices.....

    End Result:

    I am a Macy's & Dillards Customer

I wouldn't close the account. Just pay it off if you have a balance and put the card away. Closing long-time cc accounts may negatively impact your credit score, while keeping it open, but with a zero balance, will help your score.

I'm also assuming that at some point, once they see that long-time cc customers are no longer using their cards, they WILL be sending out some kind of coupons or rewards or SOMETHING to get people back in the store. If they do, THEN you can go and make a small purchase, pay it off, and then put your card away again.

This new model of business may not work for them, and if they lose enough business, I am sure they will re-evaluate what they are doing. So this might last a year, two years? Who knows? Hopefully people will only purchase items that are a great price, not just so-so...

Thanks but dh actually works in the financial field

My dh said he's heard fantastic reviews about the new store direction. I can't fathom how what they did could give any kind of a good review, unless you like to spend more money

Well, I actually used to shop there often. My mother loves the place! I actually went there yesterday with her and boy was I shocked. I walked in, walked around and right back out. It just isn't the same. IMO, things seemed higher in price. Idk, maybe it just takes something to get used to, but it doesn't have the department store feel anymore. And I think I seen maybe 5 people in the whole store. I was standing by my mom and this older lady came over and was complaining about how they wouldn't have her buisness anymore. She said it's all about big buisness, and that's not how I like to shop and walked out. So I guess they lost her as a customer. Idk, maybe I will go again when spring comes around and see what I can find!

I haven't had a chance to go check it out yet, I've been too busy saving money OTHER PLACES! Lol... I'm planning on making a trip soon and IF it's as bad as everyone says, I will call corporate and express my displeasure in a calm and polite manner. There's no point in complaining to the store manager, or especially any of the employees, they have no control over the new policies and I wouldn't want to jeopardize their work day: I'm not annoyed at them, just the company as a whole.

If you're not planning on shopping at JCP anymore, please take a few minutes and actually call and politely TELL them this and give them your reasons why. They're not going to know otherwise.

I agree it has lost the department store feel and feels more like a discount type clearance center minus the clearance bargain prices.

What. Are. You. People. Talking. About???????

I can't imagine that your stores are sooooo different than the one in Elmira, but I loved the change!!!

The prices were great. Much nicer seeing a shirt I would like at $19 or $24 dollars down to $4, $6 $10, $12 to $17.

While I was walking through the store, the manager asked me if I knew about the coat sale ALL COATS were $20!!! I got a really nice 3/4 length 'car coat' (do they still call them that?) and two shirts. While I was back there, I checked out the housewares, my particular favorite there, and there was a Cook's brand meat slicer, for $60, which I thought was a good price. When I went to check out, the guy in back of me had one and I said I had looked at them. He said they were on sale for $40!!! DS is getting married so I grabbed one.

I have been shopping at JCP for all of my life - 63 years - and have seen this store go through many changes. I posted somewhere, I thought it was here, that when I was a kid, you gave your $$ to the clerk, and she sent it to the mezzanine in a pneumatic tube, and you waited for your change. I like the quality, and the variety. I will continue to shop there. I love Kohl's, too. But I hate, Walbarf. The quality is the pits.

Sorry some of you don't like the change. Maybe it's an age thing.

Also, when I checked out they gave me a book about 8X8, that listed everything that was on special this month - lot of jewelry, which I don't need. I got one in the mail, but thought it was advertising the change - not sales, which they now call "events."
