Absolutely agree! Even though I just donate to the troops or family/friends, I see no reason why anyway can't resell. FortuneCookie makes a great point - it can be a win-win situation for all.

I agree, everyone wins! I make some money that I need to put into my gas tank and buy things for my family that I can't get for free. Folks get things at a highly discounted rate so they can save money and have more for their family too!

It's not wrong. You work hard clipping coupons using your gas, using your brain to come up with all those scenarios that will get you those free items. If you worked it out on paper you actually don't make enough by selling those items for so cheap. You are really underpaid.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with selling products that you get for free.
It's yours to do with as you please. Who cares if it was free or you paid next to nothing for the stuff?
We work hard for the deals we find (clipping/trading coupons, scouting the ads, driving to the stores, etc.). I make a lot of money at my garage sales selling some of my stockpile items. The neighbors wait for my sale each year because they save so much...great prices and no tax. It's a win-win situation for everybody.

I also donate to our village food pantry as well as send care packages to my nephew & his comrads in Afghanistan. Stockpile items are also given to family and friends who are thrilled to be on the receiving end of all my deals.

I don't sell items I get, but I donate a lot. However, I see nothing unethical in selling items that you own, regardless of how you acquired them (assuming legally of course). I can't see how that would be at all unethical.

OP, if you are not comfortable selling your items then donate them, or stop buying more than you can use. That way you don't put yourself in a position to question whether you are doing the right thing.

In my town you have to have a permit to have a garage sale, and one of the rules is that you can't sell anything that you bought just to sell at the garage sale, so I haven't bought deals just to sell later.

But...I have traded stuff from the stockpile for babysitting.

OKay see this makes me wonder if it is ok or not..I have NO idea what the rules here are but lets just pretend they are the same. I DONT buy items just to resell (no qualms with those who do though) but sometimes I get carried away with a deal and buy way too much (Im working on this). Then when yard sale time comes and Im "cleaning house" I might throw some of it in the sale. It was not intentionally bought for that but I guess when I was getting it free / cheap I figured someone could use it either i give it to them , donate, or sale. So now m house is full of stuff I dont need and isnt that what yard sales are about? So then is that ok ?
I just dont know :shrug7:

But I agree with others who have said nothing is free my papers cost .50. 1.50 and 1.75 depending on which ones I get..then you buy multiples..youve got time + $ going to get the papers..time cutting and sorting and internet time, time and GAS going to the stores..so its never really free. I tried sending a list to family friends and selling my extra items for $1 each (retail $5 and up) and one person was always like well you get it free so your still making a good profit, yet she always bought bc it was cheaper than going elsewhere. BUt I could never make her understand I was just tryig to recoup some of my expenses. Another friend who lived across the street would never buy because I got the items cheap/free yet would drive and go to Walmart and pay 6x as much for the same item. She started buying papers and wanting em to work her deals and I did but she would never go do them it was just too much work, I cant spend that kind of time, ect ect. So I said well Ill sell you my stuff cheap to help with my paper prices and gas no shed just go to walmart and buy it.
So, I dont ever buy with the intentions to sell its just too much yep you guessed it DRAMA for me AND Im really trying to work on my addiction to deal hunting
But I certainly have NO problem with people doing it. I agree its a win-win.

I think this is probably because they would want you to have a resale license otherwise, esp. if you do it on a regular basis?

BTW, does anyone ever ask someone who works full time or part time, "What do you do with all of that money you make? What? You pay your bills with it? Why don't you give it all away?"

I don't have a problem at all selling anything obtained legally! Some people need the money and can't afford to give everything away- any more than an employee can afford to give away their whole paycheck!

Priceless. I think this pretty much says it all.
