DH just left the auto parts store and was so excited by this money saver that he had to call me on his cell phone. LOL

The starter in his 1996 Toyota pickup has been working intermittantly over the past 3 or 4 days so he went to go get a new one to put in over the weekend. And he knew being a Toyota part it was going to hurt the checkbook a little.

The man told him that Toyota starters have little electrody things on the back of them and he may not have to buy a new starter afterall. Just take out the starter, change 2 little thingys and put the starter back in!! The Toyota dealership goes to that store and buys these things a few dozen at a time, and then they mark them up big time when people bring their vehicles in for starter replacement. Apparently there's 2 different types so dh bought 2 of each (to save a trip in case he bought the wrong one, and he'll return the wrong one next week) to the tune of $1.00 apiece!! WOO HOO!!!

The best part is that even though dh is not really mechanically inclined, if it proves to be too much for him to handle this job, my dad is a mechanic and will help out!!! He'll be cussing as he helps since it's a Toyota, but he'll help nonetheless!!!

I stumbled onto another potentially good deal today when I ran out for a quick errand this afternoon. I stopped by a yard sale and was poking around (no kids with me, so I was in super slow motion! lol) and found a ring binder and a box full of hockey cards (it must have at least 200-300 cards in the box) all for $5.00. I can't wait to go through them and see what all is there and grab out the handy dandy value catalog and see if anything is worth anything at all, or at least my $5.00 investment.. LOL

I took 16 yodd to Maurice's in our small town yesterday to buy a pair of khaki pants for her first waitressing job. While she was in the fitting room, I noticed a rack of shoes with a $4.95 sign way up high. I called that to her attention and we went over and found a very cute pair of size 11 brown espadrilles with ribbons that lace up the leg. DD has a brown skirt and brown gauchos that would go great with these shoes. We NEVER find size 11 shoes marked down, never!

It was the bonus of a great shopping day: dog food at Walmart, too many great deals at CVS to mention, and shoes on sale!

I was at the thrift store yesterday and they had a bunch of the books that have the sound effects or songs that you play while you read. I bought 5 of them - Elmo, Dora, Batman, Little People, and a Christmas one. The thrift store was having a sale on books 5 for $1.

I saw the same books in WalMart last night for almost $13 each. Awesome that I only paid .20 each!

We went to Albertsons the other night to get our free deodorant, and there was a sale bin of books 50% off. There was a sign stating that the sale ended the day before, but I picked up a cute little DK board book marked $6.99 anyway to see what it scanned. We got 16 Soft & Dri and a box of teething cookies. We got to the register and the book rang up for .49! The whole total was $3 and some change, which was mostly tax from the deodorants. The cashier was scanning the coupons and asked another cashier who was standing nearby, "Can she do this?" (referring to me getting the deodorants for free). The other lady said, "Why not?"

I got a bunch of undies for the kiddos today at kmart (joe boxer brand) for .50 each, and a couple of boxer shorts for $1 each. I was pretty excited!! I also got all but 3 of my xmas shopping done for $75 tonight! Too bad that doesn't count the kid's big gift that they're sharing.

I went to the newly opened Eddie Bauer outlet to poke around for something for DH for Christmas. I have a feeling I won't feel like shopping with a newborn.

Blue windowpane oxford buttondown-- originally 59.50 (60% OFF!)

Red sweater vest to match the red line in the shirt-- originally 44.50 (60% OFF!)

Less $25.00 Eddie Bauer gift card from that Summer Preview survey that we did on DAGG

Final price= 18.90 for over $100 worth of clothes

Not even close to free, but definitely not asking price, either.
