| Re: Yard sale, flea market, thrift store and consignment brags! I have started frequenting my local GW Boutiques (that is neighborhood code for Good Will). They have $1 day clearance racks. An one of them actually marks the rack to $.50 per piece once in a while. I found a pair of Talbots black honeycomb fabric pants for $0.50 one day. Since the material has such an unusual texture, I decided to look through the regular priced section of blazers to see if I could find something to match it. I couldn't even believe my eyes when I found the matching black jacket. Even though the young man who rang me up was confused as to why both were not marked on clearance, I bought both pieces for $8.00. I have a young co-worker who works at Talbots part time. She told me that the retail price on the suit was $225.00. I happily paid the dry cleaning bill and proudly wore the suit to work the next week.

| Re: Yard sale, flea market, thrift store and consignment brags! Last weekend, I went to my first garage sale of the year. The lady was selling baby clothes (nice, name-brand, no stains at all) for TEN CENTS!! Some were actually only five. I had to double check to make sure I wasn't seeing things! Then I proceded to buy pretty much everything she had. :) Also got a really cute, polka dot Boppy for $3. I didn't have any luck the rest of the day, but it was worth it!

| Re: Yard sale, flea market, thrift store and consignment brags! Well, I've had really good luck with garage sales this summer! My SIL is pregnant, so baby items have been my main focus. So far I've gotten....
Hard to find Carter's John Lennon Bassinet $8 (also included 6 extra sheets -- retail around $150)
Graco Pack 'n' Play - $5. Newer model, but none of the 'extra' stuff (bassinet insert, changing station, mobile, vibration/music) was included. Still does it's job, and was super cheap.
Changing table - $5. Not sure of the brand, but it's a light oak wood and in great condition!
Evenflo carseat w/ base - $5. Will be used as an extra for when I babysit. It's an embrace, and I got the replacement parts to fix the handle that got recalled.
Fisher Price travel swing - $8
Bouncy seat w/ toy bar/music - $3
Brand new Boppy w/ cover - $3. Also got an extra used one for $0.50.
Crib bedding - $5. Gender neutral and super cute!
Those were all of my 'big' purchases but I've also gotten a bunch of smaller items. Blankets, bibs, burp rags, toys, set of 4 wicker baskets, wipe warmer, bottles and pacifiers (new) and CLOTHES, CLOTHES AND MORE CLOTHES! Both genders, all sizes.
This baby is set! They are SO grateful that I've taken the time to go out every Thurs-Sat and find all this stuff for them! I've been 'shopping' all summer and have spent MAYBE $100. They won't have to buy much more than a crib, travel system and maybe another pack 'n' play! It's been so much fun. :D

| Re: Yard sale, flea market, thrift store and consignment brags! Last week, we received a lot of brand new free stuff. We received a .999 silver piece worth $55.
This week, people moved out of their house while we drove by to a garage sale. They made a free pile. I found a brand new white wipe board and matching eraser. The value of both is $100. DH is taking both to work.
I've found NIP envelopes, mailing labels, Leap Frog toys, boys basketballs, etc.
Our state just raised the sales tax. Pfft to that! |
