anyone?
Ok so I may have made a mistake going for one of those vistaprint free sales, but maybe not....
I bought about 100 postcards for my yardsale I'm planning for Oct 8th. It's got my address, the times and date for the sale, plus a list of some of the items I have for sale.
I was wanting to get imput on where you think I could put these out at? I want to get the word out as much as possible, but not get myself in trouble where I can't have another one without getting ugly looks.
Any suggestions?
Why would you put out postcards? People don't do that here. They just put signs on the street with arrows.
isn't that going to be costly? or are you planning on handing them out, maybe sticking them under wiper blades (which is one of my biggest peeves in the WORLD!)
I don't know what part of AR you're in but in NW AR, most yard sellers don't go to that extent to advertised their yard sales. I often see ads @ the Bargain column of our paper or some @ yahoo groups or freecycle.
Since you already have them, you can probably post them @ the store's bulletin boards like the ones you see @ CVs Family Foods and Harps/Price Cutter. Hopefully, people will take notice. Good luck!
I agree when I get stuff under my blades I get so mad because I usually don't notice until AFTER I am in the car and buckled up and ready to go and then realize it. Have to get out and start over and whatever it was they wanted to sell me even if I had the money I wouldn't buy it just because they did that.
I would try to post in the stores. I know Food Lion doesn't have a board where I live. Someone was asking recently when I was in there. I don't think any of my stores do come to think of it. I think that a poster board hung around town, with the date and day, very important. I used to go a long time ago and would get so aggravated when I would follow the goose chase only to realize the sale must have been the week or weeks before. There was no signs of yard sales at many of the signs I followed. So that is very important and also use a neon color posterboard if possible and write very large so people can read it well. I hope you do well on your sale:)

Oh goodness no, I could never put them on cars. Like you ladies, I absolutely hate those as well.
I was trying to think of locations to put them. Maybe even a location to put a small stack of them. So far I'm thinking, our grocery stores and convenience stores both have announcement boards that you are allowed to put up flyers. Maybe putting a stack at the library?![]()
As for signs and advertising, I already have big bright signs that I will put up the morning of and take down right after I'm done. They are simple but very bold and clear to read. I'll also put it in our local paper/shoppers to get some more people. As for freecycle/craigslist/websites, I live in a very rural area so those don't really cover me, but I might try anyways (what's it going to hurt?).
I was just wanting to see if some of you creative minds might know where else to put them. Oh and btw these are not standard postcard size. They are about the size of a half sheet of paper. Very colorful and have all the details of the yardsale on the front and back.
I only go to Craigslist to find yardsales so post there too!!
Keep the postcards with you at all times to hand out to neighbors, friends, family. It might be a nice idea to have neighbors have a sale the same day? Especially since you say people might have to drive a way to get there.
I can't really think of any places that have bulletin boards that I check out.

You could try the library, but in some places you now need to ask permission before posting anything. Just a heads up so your notices don't get torn down.
Hand some out to your neighbors. Do you have a hairdresser nearby? You could leave a stack there. Ask at nearby gas stations--they gets LOTS of foot traffic.
