I donated 6 bags of toys to St. Vincent DePaul which has a food pantry as well as shopping for free for anyone who needs their services. My 7 year old was really good about it. We have 3 more bags to go and then we have the clothes to hit next.

Moving really helps you clean house, I tell you...
I've been freecycling stuff like whoah the past two weeks. I finally got rid of my bridal pedicoat, the two stupid chairs that my DH's ex's mom "made" him buy to match the table that he didn't take when he moved out here.... That's another story, though.
Plus in all the packing for our move (on Saturday- woo hoo!) DH finally threw away 2 big trashbags of VCR tapes that he had recorded TV shows onto 10+ years ago (and that we have now on DVD), his college notes (which took up 1/2 of our storage space in the hall closet and 3 trashbags), and took two boxes full of three ring binders to work (about 30 binders).
We also craigslisted his old playboys (since our freecycle has a "family friendly items only" policy)- that was 5 paper boxes right there.
And after having his twin sized bed from childhood, which he had for 23 years, he finally decided that he didn't want to keep it for our son and let me put it on freecycle. a lady with a foster daughter who was sleeping on the floor came to pick it up, so it makes me feel good that he gave it up.
I sold some baby clothes on craigslist and made $20.00.
I left a bag of recyclables in the alley behind our house for the homeless, probably $5.00 worth of bottles and cans.
Right now I am trying to find a home for some suits that my husband inherited. If no one claims them on freecycle by tonight, they are going to AMVets.
That being said, I still have 100+ boxes of stuff that we're moving on Saturday!!

For the past two weeks I have gone through every box in our storage area (aka our bedroom closet--that's really all we have in this house) and thrown out two full outside rolling garbage cans of stuff. It's been great and I'm nowhere near finished--I have to go through the rest of the house now. I'm also collecting things for the community-wide yard sale that comes up in October.

Last week, I bagged up about 20 pairs of jeans in various sizes, along with 6 pairs of shoes and about a dozen t-shirts, and gave them to a co-worker who has 2 daughters and a neice that needed school clothes.
My husband has vowed to go through his side of the closet this weekend, and pull out everything he won't wear again, so I can find them a good home.
Eleven days from now is my last day of work (YIPPEEEE!!!). After that, I'll be cleaning out every possible storage spot in this house! I can't wait to have the time to get REALLY organized!!
I got rid of a bunch of fall / winter tops I hadnt worn in the past year. Ill be tackling coats next.
I finally got rid of all the food donations that I have been stored for the last 3 months. Lots of peanut butter, pasta and cereal.
Having a yard sale saturday, hoping to sell a bedroom set and a dining room set along with lots of toys and baby stuff and other odds and ends. If I have any energy left I my put out my stockpile stuff.

The winter coat is gone! the extra stockpile items (stuff I got a lot of, but then it turned out we didn't like it!) is being picked up today.
The giveaway pile of books is gone too! Our neighbors took some, and the rest went to the friends of the library.
DH and I talked last night during the black out and once we are moved, he's going to be putting the books he doesn't read in our new storage closet on the patio. So not gotten rid of, but out of my sight!

I took two boxes of books to the library.
My husband has been gone for two plus weeks, he is in New Jersey helping with relief efforts. Soooo I have been de-junking. I have taken three carloads to Goodwill, given some toys away and made three trips to the recycling center. I have made a dent but have lots more to do. He will be gone for another two weeks so I hope I am done by then. My new rule is nothing but Christmas decorations and luggage get carried to the attic. One stuff goes up there it never makes it back down. Having a walk up attic has its disadvantages.
