Where do you donate back to school stuff?

I know around the holidays, it's very easy to find places to adopt a family, or donate toys, clothes, food and everything else.

But where do you find those backbpack-drives and other things that they're called? I never see them anymore. Every once in a while I'd see one on tv or something, but it was always in the city and a pretty far drive just for a donation.

Where do you look for these?

I don't know where to find drives.. but you might check with your local schools.. I'm sure the teachers there know of someone that could use some help. ;)

I know my daughter school was getting supplys for kids that couldn't afford them. They also needed 25 bookbags for kids that couldn't afford one.

call your local schools and ask if they want them. i doubt you will get a no. there are always children that come to school with nothing. this way the teachers have extras they can pull from.

i give to a local grade school. they have never denied me. they keep the items in a box in the office and the teachers can pull from it when they need it. it helps not only the students who dont have anything, but the teachers so they dont have to buy their own.

i just got free scissors at schnucks, and i plan on giving them to the school

in my area alot of radiostations get together with stores and set up school buses and call it something like "fill that bus", so you could call some radio stations

Our church has an annual drive, so you might check with a local church. Also try contacting the St. Vincent dePaul; they might pass out supplies this time of year.

our local salvation army does a back to school drive...so check with them....

My mom, my 2 aunts, my brother's girlfriend and my DH's cousin are all teachers. So I try to divide up what I get for free/cheap and give to each of them. They either use them personally so they don't have to pay out of pocket for supplies (like red ink pens) or they distribute them throughout the year to needy kids. My mom & DH's cousin work in really low income schools, so they always have needy kids each year that receive my donations.

And the past couple of years, my mom's school runs out of funds to purchase things like toilet paper & paper towels before the end of the year... so she has to buy those things out of her own pocket. So my donations really help her out.

Ive seen donati8on boxes up in the front at office depot, office max and staples.
