I have been giving some things to family members, but i know that they may need the stuff, esp. otc meds as i am not sure if i could donate these things or not.

I really am not stockpiling food, with our eating habits it is just not possible to stockpile much as we eat a lot of produce and fresh foods. So i don't see me having much to donate in that area at all.
Well I don't have much of a stockpile either. Right now I have 3 toothpastes, 3 body washes, and 2 toothbrushes. lol
But for donating to charity...like this week the Hamburger Helper is on sale for $1 at Marsh. I had a $1/2 coupon so I bought 2 boxes and just paid a buck.
So I try to get stuff on a good sale and donate that.

I always donate my newspapers to my DD's school Art department. They love them because they are all nice and straight as I only take the Q's out. I take my old grocery bags to a local thrift store that benefits the Peace at Home Shelter (Domestic Violence) Anytime I have extras from my stockpile I take them to the thrift store and they make sure to get them to the safe house.

Now I wonder who would take personal items around here - I don't know of a place to donate those to yet, other than family of coarse, but I think they are all stocked on toothpaste and whatnot lol!
Homeless Shelter, Peace at Home Shelter, Children's Emergency Shelter, Senior Adult Centers all take personal items. I also take them to our food bank and Meals on Wheels they love to get personal care items. Don't forget the troops too! Our area has drives all of the time to send items to the troops.

Don't forget senior centers. We forget that seniors can't get around as well as us youngsters - shopping is a big deal to many. So donations of HBA, especially lotions for dry skin, as well as food and glucose monitors.

I brought 14 cans of Friskies cat food to the local municipal animal shelter.

They wouldn't let me see the kitties as it was after hours. *sigh* Just as well or I'd have to take those cans back home with me to feed my new cat.

Oh, and I also gave the newspapers I bought today for coupons to the thrift stores I visited. They need them to wrap their breakable items.

I brought 44 lbs of grocery items and toiletries to the local homeless shelter/food bank this week! That makes 180 lbs donated since I started coupoining and stockpiling about a month ago.
