    CHAT It's yard sale season!

Traditionally, late spring and early summer is the busiest yard sale season. Tell us what you're doing! Are you having one? Alone or with a group? Renting a table/spot some place? And what tips & tricks do you have to share?

My neighborhood does one every other year, and this is the year. It's June 18. I really, really hope that if I put some decent effort in, it will pay off. I have tons of maternity & baby stuff to get rid of. <--that's me being sorta sad at the thought of no more babies.

Several years ago, I got a rounder (a round rack that is used in clothing stores to hang clothing) from a store where I used to work. It folds up to store well. I drag it out for yard sales and I think that it really helps move clothing. Looks so much better than dumped in a box. And I love the pre-priced stickers you can get at Staples or other stores. Makes it so much easier to price things.

Our subdivision usually has one every year - I am chomping at the bit to find out when it is. I have lots to get rid of, and since I've got another several weeks before I go back to full time...well, I've actually got time to prepare. I prefer to do the group thing to eliminate the need to advertise, which usually runs about $20.

We always sell chilled bottled water for 50 cents each. 37 cent profit on each ($2.99 24 pack), and we always sell out no matter how much we buy.

I'm not planning one this year...but I'm hopeful a neighbor will do one..and let me sell my daughters bike. We got her one for her birthday...and then she won one in a raffle..and likes the raffle one better...so just need to get rid of the first one she has barely used.

I live in a new subdivision a little outside of town, so I'm moving my Garage Sale to my Gma's house this year so that I have more traffic. I'm also not holding onto as much this year, I'm going to get rid of more stuff and not price it as high this year either, prices are up everywhere and that's the whole point to going to yard sales-Cheap Cheap Cheap! lol

I mean I need to make money but I also need to get this crap outa here and for some reason people don't like to make offers on stuff.

I've noticed the thing about not bartering as much anymore. No one seems willing to ask. There's a city wide yard sale in the summer here. I'm cleaning out my house now so whenever it is, I'll be ready.

The yard sale thought just hit me today, I just have to find a good time to hold one. Maybe early June. I do pretty good here because I am just off of a busy street.

We actually have a little sun this morning for a change and I think that made me think about it.

I am planning every weekend around going to them! I love to get there first and find all kinds of great stuff for CHEAP! I get all my dd toys and clothes and my clothes and books.

I am participating in a consignment sale here in mid May (yikes 3 weeks, I better get a move on) and then hopefully one more community one in June. Goal is just to get rid of no longer needed stuff so I can make room to buy other stuff!

I had a yard sale last weekend. Made good money too for it not being a huge sale...about $200. We usually make more but just didn't have as much to sell this year and I also was kind of basically giving stuff away towards the end since we were only doing a one day sale this year and I didn't want to bring stuff back in the house. Sold a huge 4 1/2 ft. x 4 1/2 ft. beveled mirror for $7 and a headboard for $5 in the last 30 min of the sale...lol. Then I set everything that was left on the curb with a free sign and it was all gone within an hour. Probably could have sold more of it if I had wanted to stay out longer but it was looking like it would start raining anyway.

Oh and you guys doing individual sales, don't forget to advertise for free on craigslist. I never pay for ads...just craigslist and signs put up in the neighborhood.

We have a church wide sale this year. The church gets 20% of what you make, but I'm okay with that. They are advertising heavily, and really trying to do it right. I'm planning on selling our baby gear we have left and maternity clothing I won't be using any more. (I'm not real sad over that, but maybe that's because I had awful traumatic pregnancies to bring my two kiddos into the world.)

I usually get a spot out at the local fleamarket a few timed during the summer. I tend to get better profit versus garage sales.
