How would you sell cake pans?
I have tons of Character cake pans. (100+) They are all packed up in my building. I also have 20+ Wilton Yearly magazines. I'm thinking of selling them all because 1. They have been in the building for over a year now and I have not needed any of them and 2. we could really use the money right now.
I'm not sure if I should price them all separately or all together. I can't do a yard sale or flea market because I live in a VERY rural area and have never had any luck with either of those, and I don't want to do Ebay, So I would probably be listing on Craigslist or yahoo groups.
I have a fortune in all of these items and I know that I will probably not get everything I spent back, but I would like to make a little. Any ideas on how I should be pricing them? I have some old pans and some new. Some with inserts so without.
Thank you in advance for ANY and ALL advice!

Re: How would you sell cake pans?
Check Ebay for an idea of pricing on the individual character pans. Some of those are extremely collectible and fetch a pretty penny! Price any rares separately, and if you've got one of the rare ones you might consider listing it on Ebay to reach the collectors.
The others I'd do in lots. Maybe offer 10 pans of their choice for $X.
Price check the Yearbooks too, and offer those separately. Maybe a discount on any non-rare ones, $X each, or 3 for $Y.
Too bad you're not local, I'd be all over those Yearbooks.
Hope you find a rare or two in your stack!!

Re: How would you sell cake pans?
Thanks for the comment. :) With the yearbooks, I have almost all of them from 1974 to 2004 with the exception of 2 or 3 and I hate to see those broken up, but I've seen people pay a lot just for the ONE that they need to finish their collection. I think I will check out ebay a little more, I just hate the thought of paying all of their fees and dealing with shipping.

Re: How would you sell cake pans?
If you don't want to do Ebay yourself - I feel the same way about selling on there PLUS it's just too complicated for me - there are people you take your things to and they sell them for you. I'd have to find the place on Ebay that lists them.
Of course they take a cut and you being rural you may have to drive a ways.
Not sure if you know but Walmart.com has free classifieds. Go to the website and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page.
You might also consider an ad in the largest city newspaper you are closer to.
Have you considered the classified ads here?

Re: How would you sell cake pans?
I know there's cake decorating forums out there on the web, of course I can't think of any at the moment, but maybe you could do some googling to find them and see if any of them have a place where you could list the pans for sale. (Just be sure to read the rules of the forum so you're not violating any rules by listing them for sale.) But at least then you'd be assured that you'd have an interested audience!!!!!
Or like someone else said give it a shot in selling them here in our classifieds forum. I know you'd have at least one person interested if you were to say have a horseshoe shaped cake pan.
I know it's not a character but just wanted to toss that out at ya!
I'll bet you have some oldies but goldies in there....
Let us know what route you end up going with them all.

Re: How would you sell cake pans?
Thanks for all of the tips. I honestly hadn't thought about posting here, but I think I'm going to look into what shipping will cost and figure out exactly what I have and post a few items to see how it goes. :)
Thanks again.
