My son is an avid book reader. He seems to devour them. Anyway, we have a lot of books that we have accumulated since Kindergarten. I cleaned out the bookcases to make room for his new books and now have 4 huge boxes full of books for grades K-3. There are a bunch of sets for beginner readers, and phonics books (not Hooked on Phonics) and a lot of odds and ends books, most are from the school book orders. Do you think it would be better to bundle them up and sell at a yard sale, on craigslist, or take them to Half Price Books. I was told that at HPB, I can take them all in and they will make an offer for all of it. I am just wondering if it is worth it. I want to get the most out of them since the money from the books will be used to buy him more books.

I have never sold books before, so I am not sure what is the best road to take. I know at a yard sale, I never pay more than .25 to .50 for a kids book. I could make a lot of money selling at that price considering there are a lot there, but I also know that at the yard sales I have been to, books don't really sell. The last one I went to, the woman told me I could just take them since they weren't selling at 10 for $1. (I'm not selling the ones I got from her)

If anyone has sold books to HPB, do they give a decent amount for them? I know it wouldn't be a lot. I know not to expect that. I don't want to waste my time doing that though if it is only for a few dollars. There are probably anywhere from 300 to 400 books in those boxes.
