Default Yard Sale on holiday weekend??

Has anyone held a yard sale on a holiday weekend? How did it go?

I was thinking of holding a yard sale this Saturday, but was trying to figure if it was worth it.

    Thanks!

I had one several years ago on Memorial Day weekend and literally had less than 50 people show up and we lived near town. I was not impressed.

I do a stockpile yardsale every year and always plan it for 2 weeks after Memorial Day weekend and always get a great turnout.

I'm leary of having one every again on a holiday weekend because of so many graduation parties and open houses in our area.

We are planning one too. The stores will be busy, but who knows if anyone will take the time to stop by a yard sale?

This is what I am afraid of! Did you advertise ahead of time?

I had placed ads in 2 newspapers and I did not have a good turnout at all. We are doing it this year a few weeks after and the week after kids are out of school so it should be a good turnout.

I haven't had a sale on a holiday weekend. But it sure looks like everyone in my area is having one this weekend! Last Thursday, I had a hard time finding any sales while I was out. Today...I must have passed 30 or 40 sales while I was out grocery shopping. It's hot here, and I had ice cream in the trunk, so I didn't stop.

I would not have one on a Holiday weekend, people have other plans than going out garage saleing.

I have 3 stockplie garage sales a year and everyone one of mine are the first full weekned of the month for these reasons.

People get paid on the 1st and 15th of the month
    Welfare checks are out
Social Security checks are out ~ ~ Seems people have more money to spend at the beginning of the month versus the end.

I have been having garage sales for 10+ years and for me that is the best time to have them.

I have multiples of each weeks inserts. PM me for easy trades. I just might have what your needing.

I just checked craigslist and there have to be more than 100 for this weekend, but oddly none in my immediate area!?!? That could be good and bad. Bad because other sales won't lead to my sale, but good because I can hopefully monopolize the area's sale shoppers!!!

My sister is coming in from out of town and has already sent home some things w/ my parents when they visited 2 weeks ago. We always do our sales together and this is pretty much the only weekend for a while that we will have available, so I am hoping for a good turn out!

Another question - when you advertise, do you list some of the items you are selling? Do you list you have stockpile items for sale? This is my first sale of stockpile items.

I list the big items. I've never listed the stockpile stuff. It usually never occurs to people in my area to buy that sort of thing at a yard sale until they get there and see my prices, so I doubt it would be a draw.
