Default Help me sell my kids' clothes...

I have, quite literally, at least 10 bins of outgrown kid's clothing, sizes from NB to 3T, both genders plus neutral. Out community is having a yard sale some time in June, so I want to get stuff priced before then.

85% of it is in such good shape it barely looks worn. Some still has the tags on it (grrrrr). I don't have a problem pricing the more worn looking stuff at .50 or .75 to get it gone, but the rest is much too good for that.

Everything has been spot treated, washed, and is on hangers -- mostly the original hangers, but some that I bought that will NOT go with the clothing. Other things like sets of onesies have been Ziploc bagged and labelled with sizes.

Brands are Gymboree, Ralph Lauren, First Impressions, Carter's, Osh Kosh, Children's Place, Gap Kids or Baby Gap, etc.

Not sure if it matters, but we have moved into a VERY nice neighborhood.

    How would you price:

    Onesie type tops

    Pants

    1 piece outfits

    2 piece outfits

    3 piece outfits

Jammies (mostly one piece sleeper type)

    Coats

    Sweaters

Shoes (Almost exclusively Stride Rite, and very lightly worn-- DS went through a shoe size every 6 weeks for a year or so there. Also 4-5 pairs of Robeez, clean and in original packaging.)

Boots (winter, never worn LLBean, retailed for $20)

Baby equipment like Swaddle Me's, etc...

Socks I will do at .25 a pair, probably the same with bibs (my kids never used bibs and I have tons)

Hats .50-1.00 each, depending on brand or condition

Are you selling these here online or are you having a yardsale? My daughter is expecting the end of November and I would be interested in some of the clothing articles. We don't know what she is having yet so we would like the gender neutral things right now. Please Pm me and let me know. Thanks ~Michelle

Yard sale pricing is usually 10-15% of retail price. For things that are NWT, I'd probably start at 50%. For stuff that is indistinguishable from new (no fading, pilling, or wear) I'd probably start at 25-30%.

Hope this helps. I know how aggravating it is to have gorgeous clothes that people want to give you pennies for.

For NWT stuff, have you tried ebay or CL? You might get more money that way, but it will take a little more time.

I agree with PP about 10-15% of retail. I would start higher but be willing to be haggled lol. I'm having a yard sale in June, and I think I'm much going to be giving clothes away because I don't think yard salers will pay for the clothes even name brand and NWT.

That is yard sale pricing....I would suggest seeing if you have any consignment stores in your area first and let them take first dibs at the good stuff.

we liked this one Top Children's Clothing Franchise Opportunity : Child Resale Franchise : Children's Orchard

I would just donate stained clothing...not try and sell them unless they are jammies.

If you have a Kid to Kid store near you, you may want to explore that option too. If you have a lot of name-brand items, they tend to pay a premium - I made a bundle on my kids' Gymboree, Osh Kosh and Carter's stuff there a few years ago. And they also buy baby gear and maternity (made more $$$ off off the Motherhood and Liz Lange stuff I had). You can get cash back, or if you take store credit, you get a 20% bonus. What they can't buy, they will usually offer to donate to a local children's charity or shelter. They sell quite a bit of gently used, NWT, or brand new items, and have a GREAT selection of accessories; I get a lot of my DD's hair accessories there, and have been able to get good deals on clothes and Halloween costumes. They have a store finder on their site, and tend to be in the South and West regions of the country.
