Illegal to sell cough medicine?

I have been selling some of my stock to a couple of friends of mine. I don't sell my stuff at flea markets or online. Just to 3 close friends. I have a lot of cough syrup (Theraful, Triaminic, and Nyquil/Dayquil). My friends want to buy it (especially since its that time of year). I haven't sold any of it though because I am concerned about the legality of it. I know that there is a serious abuse problem with cough syrup. You even have to show ID to buy it. Can I sell it to my friends? I don't want to be arrested for being a drug dealer lol. They will only buy 1 or 2 bottles each.

I have sold it at my yard sales in years past as long as it was current. I pitched the expireds. I've never had an issue with it....

You have to show ID to buy it? Where are you at, because I've never had to...the only time I've ever had to show ID was to buy the Zyrtec DR or whatever it is that they keep behind the counters. Now, I think that there may be limits to how MUCH of some of that stuff you can buy at any given time, but I'm not sure about that either.

I've read discussions where druggies buy tons of Robi with dextromethorphan from yard sales to feed their addiction. Just be careful to whom you sell them to especially if they're buying all your stocks. Also, check yard sale rules in your area, if there are any. Some areas have rules on what can and cannot be sold. Use your best judgment before you sell questionable OTCs even if they are sealed in original packages. Sometimes, it takes only 1 complaint of tampering from a buyer and it may turn out to be your worse nightmare.

We have to show ID in FL to buy alot of different cold medicines, it's used to make Meth. I'd be really careful of selling it.

If I were you, I would check the rules for your state. Google it. Also If you do end up selling it, either to freinds or even at a yard sale...I (especially at a yard sale) would limit to 2 bottles/boxes per person and only if they were over 18.

I do...and the owners of the booth don't care...(in fact they've purchased some before).....I would not sell anything that had sudafed in it "pseudoephedrine hydrochloride"...but then I never purchase an overstock of that anyways...cause well.. I don't want my name on any "list" so to speak.


What is the dextromethorphan for? Is it used to make meth...or are they getting drunk off it???

They use it to make meth. You would be AMAZED at some of the things they put into meth!!! Rat poison is one (from your neighborhood farmer's co-op). Sudafed, cold meds, anything that has those long, hard-to-pronounce names...lol! They can cook it up in a bathtub, or in the trunk of their car. Whatever place of residence that has ever been used to cook meth, even once, is supposed to be condemned and torn down (in our area anyway). You can smell it being cooked from as far as 2 acres or more away.

I myself started to scorch in on all the deals that WAG's has currently been running on cold meds...and sell the overage on ebay.....then I got to thinking...would I be unknowingly supporting somebody's drug habit? So.... I just stocked up on what we needed and left it at that. God will bless in other areas of our lives for money we need, of this I am sure :)

(and btw....just so you all don't get the wrong impression of me.....all this stuff I "know" about meth....I found out from various sources....my nephew being one...who used to do meth himself..but is now thankfully off the stuff!!) This stuff is really bad in our area. My neighbor almost had his house broke into shortly after he arrived back from a hospital stay as it was quite publicly known that he had been in the hospital. The reason? To steal the meds he was prescribed. My BIL (may he rest in peace now) had a huge electric transformer fall on him and cut his legs off. While he was still alive, all the pain meds he had to take for that had ot be kept in a safe in his house...and he had to show proof of having that safe before he could even get his meds.....and still that didn't stop people...they still broke in, broke into the safe and stole his meds!

DXM. You just drink it. If you drink enough it's like an acid trip, a little bit produces a high and too much will kill ya. :sad:

the dextromethorphan is used for a drunk high for kids...kind of like drinking alot of nyquil and feeling loopy

the PSEUDOEPHEDRINE is what the meth makers use...most states have a law that you are limited to 2 per perchase...if you state is one of those that have the "cards" next to certain items that you have to take to the register to obtain the item, then you are one of these states.
