    Default Garage Saling The "Extras"

After a few rounds of great deals at CVS and Walgreens, during a one week period I ended up with a 3 year supply of deo, bodywash, toothpaste and more items and I started thinking....maybe this is why I sometimes see people have tons of "new" things at garage sales.

Do any of you make a few extra bucks by selling your extras at sales? Just curious..I've always wondered why some people have so many New things in their sales, and I think they must be serious couponers.

    Anyone doing this?

I did this for the first time at my garage sale this fall. I sold things I had found that others had discarded, some of my old unwanted things and as a whim I set out a few things I had a surplus on from couponing. I would say it was successful on some things like the JJ buddy bars, some deo., and toothpaste and brushes, but I would not have a sale just for that nor would I go gather things just for this purpose. I would rather donate to a needy cause or family I know. JMTC

I would rather donate also. Personally I wouldn't buy any thing that either goes in my body or on my body since I do not know where it has been, what it has been through etc etc.

I sell mine at a booth (kind of Antiques, old stuff, garage sale ect ). DH is unemployed...I have no shame.

I only sell stuff I know has not been opened.

Same here - only I'm a self employed single mom.

I do pretty good, and still manage to donate a fair share.

In this economy, there's no reason to be ashamed of selling what you worked hard to get. You benefit, and the people who buy it benefit by getting it at a discount. Happy/happy.

If you don't need the money from the sale, by all means, donate it. If you need the money, sell it. I've run into so many roadblocks with donating items that it makes more sense for me to sell extras at my annual yard sale and then donate the proceeds to the charity of my choice.

There are so many people who have no desire to deal with coupons...they are quite happy to buy your product cheaper than they can get it.

And heck...another gal does it at the same place...and I have bought stuff from here too as she does more long distance traveling and can get things cheap...that I cannot here.

I have done this and will do more. No shame here either, I haven't worked in 4 years and DH has been out of work for 6+ months. The last 2 sales we did, we managed to make enough to cover our mortgage and bills for the month.

We get the occasional, "Do you own a store?". Nope, just coupon big time. Works out for us, and for many others. We've met a few ppl who have been out of work also and tell us how great it is that they can get these items from me at these awesome prices. Several ppl have purchased $100+ and come back for more. BTW i sell my stuff at 60-90% off retail prices.

And yes, we do donate to all our neighbors.
