When My GF and I are out looking we call them Treasure Sales, Or Goodie Sales.. We had a Goodie Sale last summer and got alot of compliments saying it really got there attn. Then we had about half the ppl who stopped thought it was a bake sale of some sort we didn't think of that at the time. But the ppl enjoyed it looked around and usually bought something.

I think the terminology is regional (just like the shopping cart, basket, buggy poll). I live in Northern California, and regular sales are usually called garage sale or moving sale if the person is moving and selling a lot of big stuff. They also use the term estate sale here (similar to tag sale I think), but that is usually a whole house full of stuff, typically after someone has died.

When I lived in Wisconsin, they were always called yard sales.

I'm in eastern KS. I think people here use different thing depending on what's going on -- literally. We have Moving Sales, Yard Sales (if you don't have a garage), Garage Sales, churches/schools often say Rummage Sale for their event. And we have quite a few Estate Sales around here, too.

The one I do not hear said often is Tag Sale.

Tag sale

From Spring to fall, our area newspapers have a section where you can advertise your sale and as part of the package, they give you some signs to help bring traffic in, and they all say Tag Sale

I've said rummage sale forever - because that is what my Gramma called them, then my mom lol

(the same reason I drink soda and eat eggs (but pronounce them AIGS)

My mom always has and always will say RUMMAGE but I find that word so odd and since I have my sales in my yard I call em yard sales.
I guess since she lives in the country and has to take her stuff to a spot on the main road rummage sale is a better choice for her.
Estate sales are common here thats generally when everything in the house is for sale after someone has passed.
Ive never heard anyone call them tag sales.

Yep, I have to do the same thing for one tomorrow and I haven't even started yet, have had no time I work 7 days a week. Worst part is I have to haul it all over to my sisters house. I would love to just blow it off at this point but I need the cash.

SE GA: garage sale if you have it in your garage or car port, yardsale if you have it out in the open.
