I personally love them.. lol. Like you, there are certain things I won't buy secondhand... but I love going to all those places and seeing what treasures I can find.. ;)
I love them, everything is fair game.
I will buy household items second hand but not clothes.
I will buy just about everything second hand except for a few things.
Second hand items are gross, I would never buy anything second hand.
No opinion one way or the other.
I personally love to shop thrift stores, consignment stores, craigslist, yardsales and getting free stuff off of freecycle.org. But I have a friend who thinks it is just discusting to wear secondhand clothes. (she is not judgemental to me about it she just won't do it)
I would never buy secondhand underwear and except for snow boots I won't do used shoes. But just about everything else is fair game. And I really love treasure hunting for antiques and things like that. I find some really good finds like a like new Brighton purse I got yesterday for $40 ($300 new)
So what do you think about secondhand things?

I'm with you. No undies, no gym sneakers, but anything else in good condition is awesome. I adore vintage clothes, and my favorite Old Navy jeans aren't made anymore. But used pet supplies, clothes, and definitely furniture is awesome. We buy used cars and who know what people may have done in the back or front seat of those....
Won't buy under clothes but anything else is cool.
I am extremely picky in what I wear and but I have always done really well at thrift stores. I wear alot of blazers and you just can't beat the prices for them at thrift stores. Jones New York for 7 bucks.
Crystal that has slipped through the cracks also has been a score. The workers don't always know good crystal when they see it. Love-love-love thrift store shopping. (garage sales are pretty high on my list too)
Lately though, I've been getting cheaper than thrift store prices on retail sales. Kohls & JCPenneys sales have been unbelievable. I held out for the 40.00 shirts I wanted and got them for 4.20. Ya gotta love that!
I'd appreciate your prayers during a very hard transition in my life. TYVVM
I love shopping them, but you definitely have to do your digging! I will not buy underwear-just plain gross. Really bad condition shoes are a no-go. But everything else is fair game as long as it is an unused personal product.
We just had a garage sale today and I made $69 bucks-mainly from some stockpile items that I got for free.
I used $15 of that money and got DS the majority of his winter clothes and summer clothes for next year.![]()
I love it when we have our neighborhood garage sales. Once we shut down this morning, DS and I went for a walk in the stroller and scored those great items!![]()
Except for undies and socks, I really don't think I've bought anything new in a long time! I love consignment shops, thrift stores and yard sales! Freecycle is great too...but it's hard to find clothes on there (in my area) anymore.
I jokingly tell people that the only "stores" I shop in, sell food!!
Second hand is all good here. No undies, socks or shoes, but shirts and pants are fine with me as well as some items such as drinking glasses. I have bought pots and pans in the past like when I needed a spare of a certain size pot and one was available at Goodwill for a fair price, hey, why not, right?
I am about to start buying all of mine and DH's jeans there because the ones that are for sale for $30 ish at stores just do not seem to be holding up very well, and his are really getting beat up at work very quickly. I think $3 is a much better price for the use we are getting out of them. And when they have the half price colored tag day, that's a real incentive for me to dig through the racks as well!
I have a tip from DH's aunt! When she breaks a drinking glass, she checks at Goodwill for a replacement. She often finds the same exact glasses, I don't know why, but I never thought of that. My clumsy butt just waits until I have broken enough to need a new set, well not any more!!!! :)
I love shopping garage sales, flea markets, antique stores and thrift stores. We just had a Goodwill thrift store open a couple months ago. I do think when you combine Kohl's, Sears, JCP, etc. stores sales and coupons you can get stuff cheaper than the thrift stores.
Shoes and underwear are about the only things I wouldn't buy secondhand.

If I found a clothing item I really liked I guess I'd get it. Definitely not undies, pajamas, socks, etc though.
I'm like Melli and buy a lot of stuff for the kitchen from the thrift stores. I'm always finding a nice baking dish, serving platter, or soup crock there. I also like getting plant pots there-- usually for less than $1.
All sorts of deals for all shades of green.
