I love my freecycle group too. I have gotten and given away a lot of good stuff there. It is so fun to see my unloved stuff going to a good home. :)

so I just figured out after at least a year of intermittently trying to go on freecycle to try it out, that it is freecycle.ORG .... not .... .COM....

I am in the Cincinnati Ohio freecycle. It's a great way to give away things that would normally end up in a landfill. I had the ceramic insert and lid from a crockpot that died--I would normally have thrown it away but I posted it on freecycle and someone else needed it because theirs had cracked. It's great!

I really like freecycle. We've answered requests for an old cell phone once or twice, given our old babyfood jars to a boyscout troop and received snowpants, toys, etc. from it. I hate throwing out stuff I KNOW someone could use but it really has no value and you only reach so many in a garage sale. I love it. Ours dosn't permit trading coupons though (or btfe, campbells, etc) :( I wish I could just post "can I pick up your coupon inserts?" or something like that.

SMILE Freecycle: A site where people give stuff away

This is a group on yahoo. People try to keep stuff out of the landfills and give it away to other people. Listing are usually under 3 categories: Offer, Wanted or Taken. You have to be a member of this site to look at information. I have been a member for a long time and I don't get any spam from it. Go to yahoo and click on groups. Search the groups. They are often listed under the name of a city or county. Type the city or county name and freecycle after it. Items are always locally around you. It has a moderator and information has to be approved before it can be listed. No live animals. One person's trash is another person's treasure!
