    I love freecycle too.

Given away so much over the years ... books, kids clothes, women's clothes, dresser, fish tanks, kitchen gadgets, dishes, toys, chair, printer, VHS tapes, canned cat food, baby stuff, etc.

I've gotten some great stuff too ... brand new canister vac, clothes, leappad tv system and games, books, thermal curtains, ps2 games, toys, washing machine.

Sometimes I purchase & leave a carton of baked goods in appreciation. Especially when it's a response to my rare requests.

Sadly though, the dresser I freecycled wound up in an antiques shop. Which upset me at the time, since I had forgone selling it myself to give it to a mom who said her daughter needed a dresser. What can you do.

    I'm a freecycle-lover!!
    :smile83:

I have given away lots of items big and small. It's fun and much easier to part with something knowing that it is blessing someone else.

As far as items received, all I can say is that I have been blessed beyond belief!! Two of my all-time favorite freecycle true stories to tell:

    1. DH was unemployed & we were struggling big time. I replied to a freecycle post for a Mercedes. Never thought we'd get picked b/c I just knew that the person was going to hear from everyone in the entire state, lol. A few weeks went by & I got "the" email & we met. Okay, so it was very old, very dirty, very junked up, had to be dug out of mounds of leaves (you get the picture) but, it was still a Mercedes! DH drove it home & put loads and loads of elbow grease into it. After doing everything that he possibly could to it, we put it up for sale at a low price. It sold immediately & we used the money for our immediate needs for 2 months!! That Mercedes was undoubtedly a miraculous provision from God!!! and it sure is fun to say "remember when we won the Mercedes"!

    :smile2:

    2. I also responded to an email for a hot tub. Guess What? Yep, we got picked!! This lady was moving & just didn't want hassle with taking it with her. Imagine that? We've had it for two years & it still runs like a charm with daily use!

~~One of my other favorite things to do is to help others out when I ~~know they are in need of a specific item. I always make sure to let ~~the giver know that it is being passed along & let the recipient know ~~that I am just the deliverer.

I have given away so much more stuff than I have received. I haven't freecycled in a while since every single item I have given away has had at least one no show.

Given: 42" Zenith TV (it worked but it was really old and HUGE and we finally have enough money to get a new one), linksys wired router, small kitchen appliances, sheets, towels, baby clothes, bathroon stuff, blankets, pots and pans, a small grill.

Received: Bassinet (in excellent condition), contour cloth diapers and soakers, potty seat, and other kids stuff.

Worst item received: crib sheets. The post was "crib sheets and some other stuff must take all and freecycle the rest". I needed some crib sheets. When I found the house it was actually a trailer with mud for a yard littered with toys and broken down cars. I am thinking to myself "is it too late to turn around?". Turns out it was 5 severely stained crib sheets (the child either had really bad diarrhea or their dog had puppies on them, not sure which). The "some other stuff" was 2 huge trash bags of women's 3X clothes, naked barbie dolls, kids books with covers and pages ripped off, and torn up kids clothes. I threw everything in the trash and goodwilled the clothes. I was totally bummed.

I love freecycle! A couple weeks ago, I picked up a nice wooden kitchen for the kids! I give away when I have stuff and no personally-known takers.

I'm sorry but I've had horrible experiences with Freecycle. I gave away an older Honda Accord last year and had hundreds of emails wanting it. I finally got through most of them (took me two weeks) and picked someone. During those two weeks I had hate mail accusing me of being fake, being a witch for not picking them and on and on. I also gave away a bunch of stuff from my garage including, strollers, a crib, car seats, kitchen table, etc. I never gave away anything that wasn't in decent shape.

Two weeks ago, I made a post asking for an old cell phone for my daughter who accidentally gave hers a bath. This was my first wants post. I wanted it more to teach her a lesson of respecting her valuables. I did not want to run out and buy her a nice new phone. Anyway, I got THREE replies and they were all offering their old one up for sale. I wasn't above paying for an old phone, but come on!

It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that most people are greedy and only want nice things for free but want to profit from their things.

I have given clothes, baby stuff, toys, boxes and boxes of hangers and much more.

I have gotten scrapbooking stuff and jogging stroller and my biggest and best deal ever, a Sensormatic Retail store security system! Sold in the 90's for 11,000!! I ended up selling it to someone from Atlanta for $600 on Ebay!
