Re: Freecycle Brags? I have given away tons of clothes and beginner apartments items, such as microwaves, VCRs, DVD players, cups, plates, silverware, rug sets for the bathroom...alot.
I have gotten lots of Christian love novels (yes I am a guy but love these novels which tell a love story without the smut). I freecycle these back.
The best item ever was a "old computer". I went to the place and it stank of dogs. I picked up the computer and was told it was two years old but died and she just bought a new one. Got it home and it smelled so bad that I took it out to our shed and left it there for a month. I then took 2 cans of lysol and sprayed the insides and outside of it. It had a coating of doghair inside and out, clogging all the fans. Computer would not boot at all. Took apart the power supply, took out every fan and cleaned it out, had about 1/2 in of doghair on every board covering it completely. I have this board cleaner (I am a repairman for copiers so I carry this stuff). Went thru 3 cans of it cleaning every board and letting it dry. After 1 week of this, I booted up the computer and it worked perfectly. It was a Pentium 2.4Ghz with 1 gig of ram and a 80 GIG hard drive along with an 128MB AGP card. It was better than the one I use now. I gave it to my 20 year old son. We freecycled his 450Mhz computer. So it cost me alot of labor but only a couple cans of cleaner. |
