HAPPY DANCE I-bonds. A solid investment.

I cashed 2 I bonds today; concerned about the government.

I received a 13.5% return for a 2 year investment. Screw the stock market!

I'm so glad to hear it was a good investment! We just recently started getting $50 I bonds taken out of every paycheck. I'm excited to watch and see them grow!
    I'm slowly learning...and having a blast!

my accountant turned us on to the series i bonds in 2005 .. i think they have a lot more interest than any savings .. or cd. i havent had any long enough to cash in without penalty..but they are going along just fine.. they all have different rates of interest and yields, but doing much better than stocks. as op said.. my stocks and 401ks have lost so much i dont dare trade into any other funds now... gonna ride it out and hope for the best...but the bonds are where to invest right now ....

I wouldn't put a penny in bonds at this point. We may have a currency crisis this fall and I wouldn't want to be in bonds when the FED and our Treasury declares a force majeure. Too many signs out there that don't look good. The only reason we haven't gone into hyperinflation is because the banks aren't lending so there is no money multiplier. But the issue now stands that we are using 80% of the worlds savings and the world is tired of footing the bill, not to mention out main buyer of Treasury debt is experiening it's own contraction in it's economy. You don't consider it bad juju that the Treasury, as of a week ago, is no longer reporting the sales of Treasuries at auction? I suspect that the FED itself is buying Treasuries but we won't know that till the house of cards falls. Now, buying Treasuries is like buying into a ponzi scheme. We have a fiat currency and historically all fiat currencies fail. When they do, the bond holder looses, think of GM!!! Obama's green shoots are gangrene. Just my opinion but my advisor, Dr. Gary North has never led me wrong. He told me to get out of stock in March 07, told me not to buy a house on '05 and told me to buy gold in Oct '01. He is advising against bonds.
